AN "EMERGENCY" at Newark Airport sparked an evacuation with passengers reportedly being seen screaming and running from the buildings.
Reports initially emerged that Terminal C was evacuated just after 10.30am, however 30 minutes later the airport was up-and-running as normal.
One person has been taken into custody following a security breach at the airport.
The airport quickly took to Twitter to confirm that the incident was "under control" adding that a customer had exited through a security door.
It is unclear whether the incident was a mistake or whether it was intentional.

Check to see if Godzilla is in the area.
Someone show up without a mask?
Did a Taco John’s open there?
Aaaannnnd it’s Moslems.
I have flown thru EWR so many times I can’t remember how many, it’s by far the worst airport in the USA, it’s not fitting of a 3rd world country total hell hole....
It seemed like every time I traveled thru there something major was broken, the tram was down, the escalators were broken, the A/C was down even though it was over 90m inside the terminal....etc....
Watching the video I was thinking what would I do if I were in EWR and something like that happened...watching the people stampede out I was thinking staying put and hiding if necessary would be a better move than stampeding out...
Newark the city where I lived for my first fourteen years should be totally evacuated and started over. Although I don’t think the citizens would keep a new city nice for long.
Screaming OR running, I can see, but sometimes multitasking just doesn’t help.
Didn't look "under control." Had that been a larger crowd, dozens would have been trampled.
If it is possible for you try the airport in Allentown/Bethlehem, Pa. Small by comparison but user friendly.
I can understand the fear, running and screaming once you realize that you are in Newark!!!!!!!!
I flew in and out of there a number of times, one terminal had port-a-cans for restrooms. MIA was pretty bad too but that was in the 90's, don't know about now. I saw Ray Charles there in the same waiting area once, reading a big Braille book. He didn't recognize me.
I grew up in Newark, too. Couldn’t wait to leave!
How to make the 2nd worse* airport in the USA even worse.
(Worst by a mile is LGA).

A 3rd world hellhole would be an upgrade. The only thing decent was the AA club was easy to get to after the bizarre endless lines.
