The Ford Mustang Mach-E just keeps gaining steam as the year goes on.
We all knew it was coming—the day Ford would sell more of an electric car than it would its iconic Mustang. That day is here, and it's all the more painful for those who are V8 diehards. The reason why, exactly, is because the EV in question is the one that inherited the Mustang's name: the Mach-E.
First confirmed in Ford's June sales report Friday morning, then observed by Automotive News' Michael Martinez on Twitter, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E outsold its pony car namesake last month, moving 2,465 units to the normal Mustang's 2,240. The combustion-engined model, however, still leads the Mach-E in total sales this year, having managed 31,950 to the EV's 12,975 in 2021.

“But beyond that, power plants need energy sources to generate electricity. Your response doesn’t address that.”
Correct, the move to EVs might not required new powerplants, but each of them will have to burn a lot more fuel. Today in the US that will cause a large increase in demand for natural gas.
There will have to be more power plants for the growth in Electricity use, and they need to be building them now, not later. Wind and Solar will not be able to supply what is needed.
With significant (imo) problems with EVs in winter and summer, I'm not going to invest in one anytime soon.
Electric Cars? (4.24.21)
Insights welcome.
It’s like putting a tu tu on Tarzan.
Reminds me of the monstrosity from the mid 70s
Does the "E" stand for, "Edsel"? That sold pretty well at it's initial roll out, too.
I was stuck in a two hour traffic jam from a wreck just last week during the heat wave here out west There were two teslas on the side of the road sans juice in the batteries. I laughed.
“. What will they then due with the spent batteries of the said green vehicles, because they can recycle them..... “
Yep! Recycled them. Soon even new cars will be loaded with recycled.
All this while Dodge puts the 700+hp Hellcat engine in the Durango..
All the Mustang has to do is not drive into semi trailers or burst into flames while being driven and it will pass up Tesla.

How does an interior punch above its weight class?
There is a place in the world of Free Enterprise for rich man’s toys.
Would I invest in a car company that bets the bank on electric cars? Nope.
That thing does not need a grill but they tried to goof one. Pathetic - it is not a Mustang.
Because it doesnt look a DAMN THING like a Mustang!
Is a question someone who hasn’t spent much time reading car mags might ask.
Quite obviously, it means the Mustang-E has an interior that looks like it belongs in a better class of car, which is a surprising feature in any American car. US made cars have notoriously underwhelming interiors.
I agree. The collectors have all bought their early number pieces, let’s see what happens over the next year.
I’m starting to think what I really want is a hybrid ice/electric.
The electric would have smallish lighter battery, just be for getting on the highway, racing and such. Range and power on demand, that’s the ticket. Keep the battery topped off using the ice during operation.
If you want FACTS, instead of Fear Porn about CA power grid situation, go to CAISO and you cans see a consistent 20% extra availability over demand. If there is rolling blackouts, its to prevent wild fires. Most fires are started by transients, BLM, Antifa, lightning, or accident.
