Covid: Ivermectin to be studied as possible treatment in UK
BBC ^ | June 2021

Posted on 06/27/2021 10:39:00 AM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

Despite the lack of good evidence so far, Ivermectin has been taken up by doctors or by individuals self-medicating in countries including Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, South Africa and the US.

In the US, provider SingleCare said 817 prescriptions had been filled for Ivermectin (which can also be used to treat skin conditions such as rosacea) in January and February 2021, compared with 92 in the same period last year.

Dr Stephen Griffin at the University of Leeds said, "much like hydroxychloroquine before, there has been a considerable amount of off-label use of this drug," based mainly on studies of the virus in the lab, not in people.

"The danger with such off-label use is that...the use of the drug becomes driven by specific interest group or proponents of non-conventional treatments and becomes politicised," he said, adding this trial should provide a "final answer" to whether or not Ivermectin should be used to treat coronavirus.

The Oxford team said they had selected Ivermectin to be included in the trial because it was "readily available globally" and known to be relatively safe (although, like most things, it can be toxic at very high doses).

Of the six other drugs in the Principle study of Covid treatments to be taken at home, only one - inhaled steroid budesonide - has so far proved effective.

Although, sister project the Recovery trial, of treatments for hospital patients, also discovered another steroid, dexamethasone, could treat Covid, which has been credited with saving more than 20,000 lives in the UK.

You’ve got it exactly: designed to fail.

“The @UniofOxford IVM trial is garbage. They are enrolling only age 65+, up to 14 days after symptoms begin, and limiting to 3 days of IVM. They will end up enrolling severely ill high risk pts, and not treating them long enough.

They have carefully designed it to fail. As usual.

So why does it take a year and a half after the beginning of this COVID thing to decide to do a study of this treatment’s effectiveness?

Your cows are already out of the barn. Now’s a bit too late to study whether the barn door is in need of repairs.

Wrong. No vaccine offers 100% coverage, and ivermectin so far appears to lessen severity of disease regardless of variant, so taking both is a good plan.

Very early it was clear that groups at high risk for the wuhan coronavirus have more stored iron. It’s common sense to test something that removes iron from the body. A publication suggested doing so in June 2020. I don’t think anyone did it and published results.

If the disease isn’t that severe, then why take the risk taking the experimental the vaccine? The drug companies must agree because they are trying to bury the treatment.

The disease can be quite severe, and I know personally of several such cases. I do not want the disease. I’m not afraid of the vaccine, either.

Thank you Dino, for acknowledging the need for an all of the above approach to Covid. (Vaccines AND treatments AND therapeutics AND healthy lifestyle and common sense protocols/not lockdowns.)

My issues with the vaccine-fanatic crowd include their 1) cheering on of indiscriminate administration of these vaccines on individuals regardless of age or condition 2) refusal to critically examine the wisdom behind putting everyone on the same two-dose/three week regimens, without concern for things like weight, prior infection, etc...3) Refusal to see the value that even just one dose may flat out just be effective for most! 4) Refusal to take concerns like menstrual irregularities and long term unknowns seriously.

Also refusal to *differentiate between the vaccines.* The Faucian notion that one should just take “the first available” without diving into the intricacies of each mechanism (mRNA and adenovirus) is shameful. Especially doctors who refuse to do their homework on behalf of their patients that may be at greater risk for specific side effects like clotting.

The frenzy to subject young people to larger than necessary risk and toll on their immune systems is criminal. These shots are being mandated by universities, and in talks for primary and secondary schools. Some places mandate them for students and not the staff!

My pleasure. My take on the situation, and I try to stay current, is that the mRNA vaccines are by far the best of the lot. Even my business partner is coming to the U.S. to get a booster of Moderna, because he’s not satisfied with Astrazeneca’s track record. I received my second dose of Moderna in February, and I’m confident that we’re going to be offered boosters soon because, at some point, the virus will mutate to the point that the existing vaccines lose efficacy. Ivermectin as an adjunct to vaccination seems sensible to me.

Have you bought from them?

Just curious if it's reliable.

"So why does it take a year and a half after the beginning of this COVID thing to decide to do a study of this treatment’s effectiveness?"

They did not want a cheap, quick and easy solution.

They wanted a political weapon and an excuse to rob the treasury of $ Trillions.

That’s not saying much.

It’s your choice to take it or not. If you’re scared of a vaccine, don’t take it. As for “not saying much,” I’d say that Moderna’s 96% effectiveness is good...no vaccine is 100%.

The author has clearly not educated himself or herself about real-world results.

Or it's just straight up propaganda like most of what the media publishes.

True. If a writer wrote the truth, he or she wouldn’t be a writer much longer.

For Indiamart, you have to pick a seller. It is like Ebay, and each seller has their own homepage on the site, usually with a custom domain name.

If you log in to Indiamart and go to a seller’s page, I think they get notified, and they will contact you. You may get a ton of email offers from clicking around the website.

Here is the seller with the price quotes I mentioned:
https://www.pharmacolifesciences.com/
To pay them, you may have to sign up for an account at https://wise.com/, which is like paypal, in order to make a credit card payment. Other sellers may have easier payment options.
This seller does not normally include shipment tracking info, but they might make that available for an extra fee.
Shipping is very slow, but a faster option may be available for extra.

My second choice seller seems to have disappeared since I did some comparison shopping a few weeks ago! So Indiamart is probably not 100% reliable.

The following option is from a brick & mortar pharmacy that also uses Indiamart, but the quoted prices were about 30% higher than the quote in my previous post ($20 vs $15 for 100 IVM pills):
https://www.kay-biotech.com

Prices are negotiable. So you can make them an offer.

Here are others that looked good:
https://www.laanjaney.com/
https://www.onlinepharmacysolution.com/
https://www.indiamart.com/medihome-pharma/

Indiamart is good for stocking up if you are not in a hurry.

If you need something right now, then here is a list of U.S. doctors who will prescribe it:
https://covid19criticalcare.com/guide-for-this-website/how-to-get-ivermectin/

It is probably about $50 for a U.S. virtual doctor visit. You might need a follow-up office visit every 3 months to get prescription refills. You can find the cheapest U.S. pharmacy prices in your area at GoodRx.com

Maybe today’s writers should be called actors since they are paid to act like journalists.
