If you happen to be a Pink Floyd fan, there’s no doubt that you have enjoyed listening to their song, “Wish You Were Here” more times than you can imagine.
It’s one of their songs that just gives you goosebumps every time you hear it, but we are about to take those goosebumps to the next level.
The United States Army Field band known as “Six-String Soldiers” decided to cover the song while they were on location in Patapsco Valley State Park, Maryland.
The resulting video is one you will want to bookmark and listen to over and over again.
Two of the soldiers play on the guitar during the video while a third one sits in the back and plucks on the banjo.
There’s just something about watching them play the song in the middle of a forest that makes it seem as if it was made for that setting.
In 2015, five active-duty soldiers made up this US Army band. They perform a number of different styles of music, including country, bluegrass, and Americana.
The fact that they decided to cover a Pink Floyd song was because they made it a special dedication to the people who were still back home and missing them. They wanted them to know that they missed them as well.
Video at link.
Thanks, Diana!
Surprise that PF members didn’t object.
Roger Waters told Zuckerberg to f off when they asked to licence his song Another Brick in the Wall. So he’s not all bad.
Pretty cool
guitar ping
I read where it was hard to play bass and sing. Notice the one guy doesnt sing much and when he does he stops playing.
They did a nice job.
Great group. I really love most all great guitar playing.

Couldnt stand em. Waters is a raving anti GOP, anti conservative, anti gun , anti Israel lunatic, anti Trump too. Im glad to be a PF hater.
Great version! They even mixed a little from the song TIME at the end.
I think the album ‘Wish You Were Here’ is Pink Floy’s best work although it seems to be overlooked by many.
The group I was referring to was the group of GIs playing the guitars.
Back in the early ‘80s, AFN Europe did a promo commercial for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle to a Pink Floyd track.
I think a few of us stationed in Berlin when the Wall fell have good thoughts of Pink Floyd.
Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I didn’t know about the Six-String Soldiers, and just spent the past hour on their YouTube channel listening to the amazing array of great music!

You don’t kniw Roger Waters. He is king of the commie pricks. Probably pissed at the amount he was offered. Waters is so bad, that Pink Floyds web site wont even link to him. Gilmore and Nick Mason can’t stand him.
He told Zuckerberg to stuff it because of FB’s policy on “fake news” and hampering his campaign to free Julian Assange, nothing to do with money. I do agree in some ways he is a prick. Trying to wind up Pink Floyd just because he wanted to leave was a dick move.
