When I was a kid everyone ate white bread. In Texas it was Mrs. Bairds Bread. Then wheat bread showed up, and once one adjusted to the taste/texture it was OK, and there was little difference between brands. Now, there are so many brands of wheat bread it would take a lifetime to try each one, and each one I try is lousy.
Orowheat’s Oat Nut seems best, meaning I can put up with it. That one is edible but not good. A few years ago most wheat bread was fine, but not anymore.
Maybe I’ll just eat Italian bread. Italians are known for living long and happy lives.
Whole wheat bread has the hull on it and thus is full of oxalates, gluten and glyphosphate pesticide. While whole wheat bread has more nutritional value, the oxalate will eventually give a person leaky gut leading to kidney failure, heart attack and cancer. Contrary to pop wisdom, the processed white bread is better for those with digestion problems. But bread companies don’t make true white bread anymore.
High oxalate foods should be avoided:spinach, beets, chocolate, all nuts, grains such as wheat and brown rice, even high vitamin C.
“What is the difference in “whole grain” bread and “wheat bread”?
One sucks and the other is lousy.
I like Arnold Whole Wheat bread just fine, as well as many other whole wheat breads. The only thing I really can’t stand is plain, standard, white bread. Horrible. Like chewing a flavorless gum.
The whiter the bread the quicker you’re dead.
Oh for my younger days..Baloney sandwiches on wonder bread with Lay’s potato chips piled on it....
Never seen Dave’s but thanks I’ll watch for it. If I spend an hour in the bread aisle I might find it amongst the 400 others that are inedible.
Martin’s Potato bread is my fave
My father worked at the Orowheat plant in Dallas Texas in the 60’s and early 70’s.
He used to tell me of carrying 5 gallon pails of molasses up a flight of stairs and pouring it into the mixing bowls (bug mixers). Took a tour and watched that man carrying two bags of wheat flour, one on each shoulder and two pails (think 5 gallon lidded buckets) up one flight of stairs, empty into mixer and then come down for a second trip. Did this all day.
Now I remember why I always feared him.
Well, technically yes, you are correct. The vast majority of breads contain wheat as their primary ingredient.
Post-modern “Wheat Bread” generally refers to a spectrum of breads which range anywhere from using unbleached flour to an inedible collection of various seeds (”grains”) and coarsely ground wheat kernels. This sort of bread is often marketed with implied health benefit claims.
So yes, you are out of touch. But not a bad thing to be out of touch on.
I like what is sold as “Italian” bread from the local bakery myself.
Anywho, Bunny Bread is awesome. Apparently they didn't get the memo.
That bread is raciss...you have to eat BROWN bread!
the BEST wheat bread , hands down , is Ezekiel low sodium no flour bread. Just came back from Trader Joes where that can be purchased.
Do you have a hometown bakery where you live? I’ll bet they make really good wheat bread.
I switched us to wheat years ago, to cut carbs. I WILL buy el-cheap-o bread once in a great while from Kwik Trip as it makes the Best French Toast Evah!

Interesting, I’ve never tried the Potato Breads, thanks!
Only the gluten free wheat bread is any good.
I’ll look, thanks that’s a good suggestion!

Thanks.
You could kill a man with a loaf of that stuff.
