Mendocino is known for its Victorian architecture and striking setting on the bluffs of the Pacific Ocean in rural Northern California...
The sole service station in the tiny pastel-hued village, Schlafer’s Auto Body & Repair, is currently charging $6.73 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline
“They say, ‘you’re ripping us off,'” she said of her customer’s criticisms. “I tell them, ‘If you want to take my seat and my helm over, you're welcome to do so.’”

“THE most regressive taxes possible and hits the poor far harder”
That’s only until they completely outlaw gasoline engines and force everybody into electric cars.
Yeah when we drive from FL to MO, which we’ve cone more than once, we know what States to fill up in. Going over the Mississippi River, East to West, better fill up before you cross. Buy beer and smokes too.
California's golden dream:
That looks like an early BLM/antifa blockade of the street.
***My all-time lowest price was 19¢ at a station in Columbia, Missouri around 1971.***
I remember those days! It got down to 14 cents a gallon where we lived.
“We drove from Idaho to California yesterday on US 97. The last gas station in Oregon before the California border (Worden) had regular for $3.38. The first station in California (Dorris) was almost $1 higher.”
For about two+ decades we would spend a week or two in Oregone, in Brookings, Medford or Bend.
We filled up in Oregone before we drove back to Californicator land for:
1. Lower price/Gallon
2. Better performance and mileage with Oregone Gas.
3. They filled the tank not me.
Tried to buy gas this morning. First card the pump requested/required my PIN number. Same with the second card i tried. First time ever in ~45 years i’ve been required to enter a PIN to buy gas. No idea what my PINs are so i drove off.
Call your bank and get a PIN number. Every store and gas station and car wash has a place to pay by bank card and always requires your PIN number.
PIN is Personal Identification Number. It protects you from unauthorized use of your card
The worst I saw was $4.63 at a Valero in Needles. In 2010!
This blows that outta the water!
I would *NOT* want to drive a fuel tanker over the roads to there.
Vacation in Mendo a couple of times a year; roads are twisty turns that are great in a Porsche or motorcycle.
Beautiful, lots of great artists and scenery, but deadly roads.
Looking at retiring up there.
Should be able to get a 2 bed, 1 bath place on 1/2 acre for about 1.2 large.
Plus the high sales tax, 63 cents i think.
I lived in beautiful Mendocino for a year Bought gas at the pricey station occasionally when I was about to run out of gas, but only bought a few gallons. Then drove up to Fort Bragg for cheaper gas. It’s very expensive to live in Mendocino. I rented a wonderful little house in nearby Albion on a beautiful fenced-in acre for $450/month from a couple in SF who bought it just for the land, planned to build their dream home there when they retired. That was a crazy-low price, comparable was $1200 with no land
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Where I live, the closest different gasoline price is 35 miles and a mountain pass away.
$1.529/litre CDN for a metro area of 400+K people.
That's about $4.70 usd/usg.
I remember when I work at a full service station. The gas was about .50 a gallon. Check the fluids, tires and clean the windows. It was a good job for a 14 year old.
Same on I10. Made the mistake the first time we drove out to see the in-laws when they were snowbirding to not fill up outside of California. Once was enough, we have a set stop now. LOL
I told my wife we should stop at the last station in Oregon, but we were down only a quarter tank after fueling in Bend. We would have saved about $5 by topping off in OR, but we kept going and eventually got gas in Vacaville. If we needed a half-tank, we would have stopped. Still, I HATE giving that $5 to California!
Arco’s 5 miles up the road in Fort Bragg and $4.01 a gallon.
$3.98-$4.01 for several brands in Fort Bragg, 5 miles away.
Chevron does charge some of the highest prices, next to Mobile and Shell
