Press-wary Hillary Clinton on Wednesday came to the defense of tennis star Naomi Osaka of Japan amid a flap over the athlete’s refusal to attend a news conference following her first-round victory at the 2021 French Open.
“I’m inspired by Naomi Osaka’s courage,” Clinton tweeted. “This is a moment for all of us—especially the press—to ask why it’s not enough to let her stellar performance on the court speak for itself.”
The second-seeded Osaka on Sunday was slapped with a $15,000 fine and threat of expulsion from the French Open after she refused to attend a news conference following her first-round win at Roland Garros — making good on a May 26 promise to boycott news conferences.

It is almost like the media gives their permission for a sports figure to become a star. The media has a job BECAUSE of a sports star and not the other way around and they should act like it . . . a little humility never hurt anyone

The tournaments generate far more revenue from TV broadcast fees than they do from ticket sales, so a surly malcontent who refuses to make media appearances isn't doing anyone -- including herself -- any favors.
“The only thing an actor owes his audience is a great performance”. Someone said it. May have been Shakespeare or Brando. So she has to face the press and says no. So where’s the heavy lifting?
The fact she can’t figure out she could use these press conferences to her advantage speaks volumes about the lack of intelligence on her part.

I think Osaka is an extremely confused young woman. I’m still sore about her activism - she’s half Japanese and they are among the most racist people on the planet and I notice she is not representing Japan. She may have been getting some bad advice. Why does Hillary feel the need to give her opinion though?
From the photos, I don’t know anything about Elijah McClain, but none of the others were murdered.

Yep...I saw or heard somewhere she's made over thirty million (before taxes) in the last 12 months.
