Weren’t vehicle pursuits verboten a while ago...?
These has been a “no chase” policy in our city. A radio can move faster than any car. The “movie chase” crap is useless.
The kid had a gun.
This will definitely help lower the crime rate.
Democrats supporting your local Criminals
Did they ever stop to think this kind of policy just may encourage criminals to commit more and more serious crimes just to see what they can get away with.
There’s a reason why you have to tell a child “no” when they make little mistakes, so they don’t continue that behavior and make bigger ones.
Little offenses become big offenses.
The number of recruits dwindles, the veterans retire, the ones that are there ‘retire on duty’ waiting to put in their paperwork, the few ‘hard chargers’ continue to work until they get in trouble or indicted and if they survive the trouble they also retire on duty.....what could go wrong?
Toledo was running as a suspect in a shooting. Is that minor enough crime in Chicago to not be chased? Is the only crime warranting punishment in Chicago a reporter of the wrong race asking Mayor Lightfoot an question?
They’re doing a reverse Giuliani. The cops were ignorning everything and he told them to go after everything but especially the small things. The small things are the hallmark of a civilized city, if you let them go it snowballs. These dem mayors everywhere are creating the perfect recipe for chaos in their cities.
Won’t happen in Groot’s hood.
not chasing and capturing a suspect immediatwly after or while fleeing s crime is not simply “de-escalation”
its a get out of jail free card
“my client was nowhere near that area that day at such and such a time”
The only reason to pull over is if you run out of gas.
the right time is when they are fleeing
and scared
and haven’t had time to make good escape decisions
these people are effing moron socialists
A soon as Chicago no longer goes after bank robbers, I will be recruiting a team for a big heist. Any Freepers interested?
For the real story on Mayor Lighthead and the Police - read Chicago Contrarian - the new home of Second City Cop.
Sounds like Chicago is taking after San Francisco. Shoplifting? Committing a misdemeanor?
Fuhgetaboutit.
You have to wonder why they even arrest people there? So they are off the streets for 90 minutes?
They did this in Tampa and it resulted in so many accidents and injuries that the bleeding heart liberal mayor reversed the policy. It turns out that kids would bait a cop by ramming him to set off his airbags, and then speed away knowing there’d be no chase. When the policy reversed I saw a video. It was a double date of white people. They’d baited the cop and then run and they got chased down and arrested. One of the girls cried saying, “You aren’t playing fair! You’re not following the rules!” Because, whatever the “rules” are, someone will take advantage.
Is walking up slowly to the perp still considered pursuit?
