The report involved a man being attacked by a bear over the weekend while inside of his tent, according to Fox31. According to Clay, the investigation into the incident has resulted in concern that the evidence found at the campsite does not corroborate with the account of the attack. Prior to this incident, no recent bear activity had been reported at the campground or in the surrounding area.

If it did happen, the knothead likely had food in the tent with him, instead of sealed up and placed out of reach in a separate location.

And what is that supposed to imply? That a bear attack couldn’t happen u less prior activity had been reported? Usually attacks happen randomly, after long periods of no attacks. We haven’t had any reports I years in bear country, but if one does happen, I guess we are not to beleive it because there haven’t been any for years?
Yeah a lot of folks aren’t too savvy about wilderness unfortunately. They wanna enjoy it, but don’t know basic rules. Lots of folks also go out into the deserts, it’s really hot, and plan to stay overnight, no blankets, or heavier clothing, and end up near freezing freezing to death at night. They also don’t take enough water to keep themselves hydrated, underestimating how much it takes to keep hydrated.
Then again, I’d likely not survive long in an inner city lol

I didn’t read the article at the site, gotta run, but wonder what the evidence showed? Maybe lack of tears I. The tent or something , but the fella could been too scared and misremembered. Or exaggerating. I’ll check the article later.
So, hypothetically, if the person is lying about a bear attack, what might actually be going on? Is there some other evidence of a crime or something, that a staged bear attack would be used to try to conceal?

Does Colorado have grizzlies? If they just have black bears it is rare for one to attack a human. Usually it’s a male that goes predatory, and there will be multiple attacks. Typically not just out of the blue for no reason.
The bear could’ve been looking for food and instead it was called an attack, if the idiot had food in his tent then the bear would’ve gone for that. We had a bear attack our snowmobile seat, looking for the potato chips from an empty potato chip wrapper. Their sense of smell is amazing. And apparently their memory. He did it again the next year and the snowmobile was completely clean. That’s when we built a shed for the snowmobiles.
Bear activity means no signs of bears anywhere near by
I don’t know if Colorado has Grizz- i think so- but not sure- Black bears can turn predatory too when food sources aren’t good- every now and again there will be starvign bears that get too close to folks and have to be relocated- but yeah, attacks are pretty rare-
Oh right, I had forgotten about those troublesome bears in the Sierras that were relocated. They weren’t necessarily predatory, but typically learned how to break into buildings.They had orange marks on them.
Unfortunately we knew if we reported one of those bears, they might not make it out alive the next time

we’re over on east coast, black bears only- and they never shoot them- always trap them and relocate them- but many say they just find their way back eventually- don’t know if it’s true- the only bad experience was a couple years ago- real hot dry summer, a starving bear followed a couple of women for a few miles back out to their car- getting close enough to reach out and swat at the women- but noone was hurt- I’m betting the women had food in their backpack.
supposedly there have only been 59 killings by black bear in 100 years- but still- it does happen kinda sorta often- Most often though encounters are just nuisance bears-
Or maybe a mother bear. I imagine they can seem predatory :-) but even that, not always.
At our cabin community in the Sierras some rotten kids were throwing rocks at 2 Cubs in a tree. The mother stashed them there so she could go foraging. Well she came back. Most of us were half hoping she would attack them, but not really, then it would be the end of her and the babies. I actually never saw it, there was an eye witness walking by and that’s why he didn’t have a chance to give those kids a thrashing.
But the mama bear climbed up in the tree and put her arms around her babies to protect them. So that she would take the rocks instead of them.
The kids were very lucky the mother didn’t attack. Mighta been a young inexperienced mother that didn’t have enough nerve to attack, or at least bluff charge.
I had a bear huffing and clamping its jaws making a sound at me once, it was over a small hill where I couldn’t see it. I was al out back to the car from a hike a round a pond at the time. It Was unnerving to say the least.
A vriends of mine was out hunting, and sat down to rest y a large tree. He said he heard the same thing, chomping, clapping the teeth together that bears do, and couldn’t tell where it was coming from. He got up, walked around the tree, and there was a hollow in the tree and a bear Inside. Thankfully nothing happened. He backed away slow, and then got out of the area lol. Too close for comfort
That sounds scary! I’ve never heard one make that noise, thank goodness.
But the bull next door was huffing, pawing the ground, and throwing his head around. Actually throwing snot around. My little Yorkie had been barking at him. It was time for us to leave!
