O[[. Prior to this incident, no recent bear activity had been reported at the campground or in the surrounding area.]]

And what is that supposed to imply? That a bear attack couldn’t happen u less prior activity had been reported? Usually attacks happen randomly, after long periods of no attacks. We haven’t had any reports I years in bear country, but if one does happen, I guess we are not to beleive it because there haven’t been any for years?

That was just a side note by the writer, this is the important part.

“According to Clay, the investigation into the incident has resulted in concern that the evidence found at the campsite does not corroborate with the account of the attack.”

Does Colorado have grizzlies? If they just have black bears it is rare for one to attack a human. Usually it’s a male that goes predatory, and there will be multiple attacks. Typically not just out of the blue for no reason.

The bear could’ve been looking for food and instead it was called an attack, if the idiot had food in his tent then the bear would’ve gone for that. We had a bear attack our snowmobile seat, looking for the potato chips from an empty potato chip wrapper. Their sense of smell is amazing. And apparently their memory. He did it again the next year and the snowmobile was completely clean. That’s when we built a shed for the snowmobiles.
