Oh right, I had forgotten about those troublesome bears in the Sierras that were relocated. They weren’t necessarily predatory, but typically learned how to break into buildings.They had orange marks on them.

Unfortunately we knew if we reported one of those bears, they might not make it out alive the next time

we’re over on east coast, black bears only- and they never shoot them- always trap them and relocate them- but many say they just find their way back eventually- don’t know if it’s true- the only bad experience was a couple years ago- real hot dry summer, a starving bear followed a couple of women for a few miles back out to their car- getting close enough to reach out and swat at the women- but noone was hurt- I’m betting the women had food in their backpack.

supposedly there have only been 59 killings by black bear in 100 years- but still- it does happen kinda sorta often- Most often though encounters are just nuisance bears-
