LeBron James is calling for more player protection in the NBA.
After Wizards point guard Russell Westbrook was doused with popcorn by a Sixers fan attending Game 2 in Philadelphia on Wednesday night, James took to Twitter to sound off about the situation.
“By the way WE AS THE PLAYERS wanna see who threw that popcorn on Russ while he was leaving the game tonight with a injury!! There’s cameras all over arenas so there’s no excuse! Cause if the [shoe] was on the other [foot],” the Lakers star tweeted, with the hashtag “ProtectOurPlayers.”

Defund the security guards.
Philly fans are crazy. They threw snowballs at Santa.
Hey Mister $100 million net worth oppressed athlete here’s an idea. Take some of that money and hire all the armed guards you want.
Good thing James is a good basketball player because he sure couldn’t succeed at anything that requires intelect. Guy can’t even talk.
I heard LeBron had a Vagina injury when he got fouled out during the game.
STHU and dribble. No one cares.
Back in ‘96, was it? Florida Panther fans (Hockey) were throwing plastic rats at opposing players. It took longer than it should have, but the league did ban the practice. (The home team can be penalized for any offenses).
I think similar things have happened in baseball and football too.
No but it was white popcorn so the perp must be a racist and will likely be charged with a hate crime.
You are aware that the plexiglass around the ice is there to protect hockey FANS from the 3 1/2” chunk of hard rubber flying around at 90+ miles per hour, right?
Baseball the separation is to prevent fans affecting the play. Same with American Football.
Player safety has NEVER been the reason for any of the protective measures in sport. With the possible exception of motorsports.
While b-ball has less audience separation, the players are still far from threatened by the fans. Not that I care either way, as I dislike the squeak-squeak, bunch of genetic freaks bouncing a pig’s bladder to throw it at a peach basket, game.
I have a better idea.... all the players should all quit, and the NBA shut down completely. I’m sure Lebron and his buddies will find similarly paying jobs right away. The world needs people who can put a ball into a hoop, either by throwing or dunking, it’s so very important. A skill with incredible demand, it’s like every other job posting on LinkedIn is seeking 3 point shooters, power forwards, and point guards- don’t get me started!
Yeah these guys are just that valuable. They should all totally quit today.
Like brain surgeon or rocket scientist
Call BLM LaBum.
My gawd! Popcorn at an NBA game is expensive! What a waste of money.
Westbrook should have eaten some of it and told the fan “thanks!”
ESPN3 is okay for a free station.
Watching Celts tonight
Tell me you saw that Baez play the other day!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently it was scored as 2 errors, by 1B and C. Even though it was (mostly) 1Bs fault it should have been a fielder’s choice with only the Catcher having an error for the throw allowing Baez to 2nd. Breathtaking mental lapses aren’t errors according to the rules.
He played it like a 3rd baseman cuz he grew up as a third baseman.
Craig 1B
The 1B error was coming off the bag to receive the throw. The play was at first. So error on either 3B or 1B
It looked to me like he had to come off to get the throw so if that’s an error it’s on 3B. But it would have been irrelevant if he had just........taken a few steps back and stepped on the bag instead of absurdly chasing Baez, or tagging Baez when he was literally inches in front of him instead of throwing it to the catcher. I guess none of them, Baez included, realized the run wouldn’t count if Baez was out, lol.
