It was like a story torn from a rom-com movie — except for the ending.
A Florida author flew across the country Friday to spill her guts to “the love of my life” – only to end up heartbroken and alone Saturday morning in a “s—-y” Oregon motel.
The romantic drama captivated Twitter over the past 24 hours as it was shared by Rebecca Renner, a contributor to National Geographic and author of the upcoming book “Gator Country.”
“I asked him if we could try again and he said no,” Renner, 31, of Orlando, told The Post Saturday morning by phone, just hours after her public rejection. “So much worse has happened in life than somebody saying no to me. My heart is a little broken, but it will mend.”
The social media drama that followed Renner across the continent began to unfold Friday evening when the former schoolteacher posted:
Rebecca Renner did not say what "tragedy" prompted her to take the leap of faith. Rebecca Renner flew across the country Friday, only to be left heartbroken. Twitter “Last night, a personal tragedy reminded me that life is uncertain and too goddamn short. So I booked a plane ticket, and I’m about to fly across the country to tell the love of my life how I feel.”
The post contained a photo of Renner in an airport terminal wearing a black mask covered in tropical flowers as she went to see Francois Wolmarans, the man she had dated earlier this year, their brief relationship highlighted by an impromptu road trip to the Grand Canyon.
“Wish me luck!”

To be fair, she’s not quite as crazy eye’d as that.
She’s an average looking person, so that may not be the reason she was rejected, maybe she’s got the personality of a pit viper. She could also be a black hole of emotional need, sucking everything around her into her vortex of drama and needs.
I’ll give her a plus for actually making the trip. That takes some bravery or batshittery crazy, but either way, it sets her apart from the crowd and I like that in a person. Most broads would stay home and whine on twitter.
Miss 100% of shots you don’t take...
Never hold it against someone for taking a shot, and not being afraid to.
Do we really need to see the “crazy/hot” matrix again? :)
Though that is one of the funniest videos I’ve seen, it cuts to one of the most important rules regarding what makes something funny: It’s rooted in hard truth.
My wife and I had a similar relationship start at our 25 year class reunion, even though she flew halfway around the country to be there, and after a relationship had crashed, and my marriage of 20 years had also just crashed. We’ve now been married 23 years and we only grow closer.
But we didn’t advertise it on Twitter. That would have been beyond tacky. This woman is like the guy that proposes on the middle of the court during halftime of a pro basketball game only to have her run off the court, crying.
This chit is supposed to be personal
Ungrammatical drivel from the article.
wtf does this on twitter?
Sorry darlin’. You don’t always get a second chance to make it work. It sucks, but that’s just how it goes sometimes.
thanks for the yuge insight...
That may be, but even in this day and age, most men still prefer to do the pursuing.
Does she have a copy of the book, “He’s Just Not That Into You?”
What I hold against her is that she felt the need to tell the whole world this nonsense. So much narcissism in our culture.
had a guy done this, there would be a restraining order and charges of stalking.
No insight, just frustration with the ill-educated younger generation.
Agree.
What normal guy is going to want to get involved with someone that just posted her last relationship on Social Media and will surely do the same with the next?
Probably zero
Agree. This is actually pretty common on Twit.
You are absolutely right.
All my regrets are things I failed to do. I have no regrets over anything I have done. Either I learned a lesson or got a good story or gained wisdom. Something.
All of my regrets start with, “I should have...”
I hope nobody IDs the guy who rejected her. He could be in a world of hurt with all the stupid people out there.
There are women who marry men who will never leave prison. They love the idea of being married but don’t want to deal with a man around.
I wonder if this guy was like that. He liked talking to her but didn’t want her around.
More likely.
Should be only 3 involved; male, female and God.
Although I’m more than certain God rolled his eyes at me a dozen or so times.
