Trainer Maxim Orlov and other circus staff fended off the beast - called Vega - with poles but the angry lioness caused injuries which required hospital treatment in Moshkovo, Novosibirsk region.
The trainer - after being bandaged in hospital - insisted: 'Cases such as today are very rare, but animals are animals. He blamed the attack on the Ural Travelling Circus not working during the pandemic.

Good kitty!
They grab hold of a clown and start devouring him. One lion turns to the other and asks “Does this taste funny to you?”
Crack a whip at me and hell yeah, I’ll hurt you if I can.
Nice kitty kitty,
Lions will seldom eat Divorcees, as they are often bitter.
Pretty liberal interpretation of the word “savages,” in my opinion.
—”liberal interpretation of the word “savages,””
Guessing the word has secret/dog whistle meanings, so it is seldom used?
verb
3rd person present: savages
(especially of a dog or wild animal) attack ferociously and maul.
“ewes savaged by marauding dogs”
Good thing they did not call it a cougar?
The big cat attacked once and got hit with a stick. The dumb trainer did not leave the ring. Then the big cat attacked a second time and got hit with a stick. Doh! Why not just leave the ring after the first bite? The show must go on, I guess.
I've had enough of this whippersnapper!
I know the context in which it’s being used. I expected a more viscous attack. Maybe the violence in today’s culture has desensitized me.
LOL
There was a zoo 5 miles from our house in India. In the evenings, we could hear the roars from the male lions like it was from 2 blocks away. The loud roar is a very helpful weapon. It freezes the prey in it’s tracks, making for an easy kill. The lionesses can not roar loudly and must chase the prey at high speeds to have a chance for a kill. You will seldom see a male lion galloping to catch the prey.
Worker’s Comp claim?
—”Why not just leave the ring after the first bite?”
Paid by the performance?
Pressed for money?
—”Worker’s Comp claim?”
For the lion or the guy with the whip?
In Illinois, both would already have legal representation.
Cat better be careful .... Human meat is saltier so if a low sodium diet is called for, cat has to limit intake
“—”Worker’s Comp claim?”
For the lion or the guy with the whip?
In Illinois, both would already have legal representation.”
In this country, the lion would get more rights, if the activists have any say so.
Gilmore the lion!!!
A nice find!
During a brief eight-month period, Gilmore logged over 25,000 miles in the air and was a passenger during multiple air speed record runs. When not flying, Gilmore made public appearances including at the golf course and disconcerted the mailman and other visitors to Turner’s home when he answered the door.

I’m on the lion’s side. Lions should be left in the jungle where they can live natural lives. Poor kitties.
