In 1965 we changed the long standing policy of inviting and accepting the brightest and the healthiest of wannabes. We switched that over to preferring the poor, the ignorant, the unskilled, and the just plain Low IQ.
My step-grandparents immigrated from Germany a few years after WWI. He was a skilled machinist and she was a naval architect. Neither knew hardly a word of English, yet they were sort of people the US accepted then and should accept today.
Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law many unethical bills. Sad. Rewarding the theft of citizenship is cruel to Americans. Sad how some Americans cannot appreciate how good they have it.

1965 will be known in history as the beginning of the decline of American capitalism. Count in the Civil rights act and the beginning of the welfare state. Johnson’s great society, IMHO, was the beginning of the end!
