Our ‘house dog’ is a Beagle. Named, ‘Chief’ because he keeps all of the OTHER hunting dogs in line. ;)
He is one of the smartest, most awesome dog I’ve ever met...right after my Rufus - Basset Hound. (RIP - Thanks again for 15 wonderful years, Buddy!) *HEART*
While I am VERY much in love, if an Emperor is offering to build me a Taj Mahal, I am open to hearing his plans. ;)
Of course, I THINK I have to be dead, right? That was a very expensive TOMB, even for the 1600’s when your Rupee went a lot further than it does these days, LOL!

That is a volunteer that has re-sprouted 3 or 4 times
Last year I grew some cilantro. I let one plant go to seed. Now it’s a weed. Got so much. Cant keep up. I let beets go to seed too. Got so much growing. I think I can keep up with them. Love beets and beet greens. Fan tactic In soup.
Congratulations on getting the cutie pie puppy! I always want a puppy. Then I remember how easy it is to have one dog. We used to always have 2 dogs. Kinda miss having 2.

She did well last night for it being her first night ‘all alone in the world.’
We took a walk at 8pm, and I gave her another scoop of Puppy Chow and milk replacer, and a while later put her in the kennel and closed the door. A little yowling for a while, but she went to sleep after her busy day.
10pm - still asleep. 3am - still asleep. I had to wake her up at 7am!

House wrens. Have not seen a Carolina wren I don’t think they come to Michigan. House wrens are nasty birds. Famous for destroying other birds nests, easting of kicking out eggs, and and nesting is any old spot, like an open rural mailboxes. They also are aggressive and will dive at peoples heads, even eyes.
WE are fortunate in the woods here, many small insect eating birds. Rarely see a staring or cowbird and just a few bluejays which are are nasty to open nests.
Very sweet looking and a little lonely too. That will wear off.

We got 6 inches of rain this week, the lake is full as a tick and its been drizzling since yesterday evening. I have a rain hat too.
Thanks for the tip I looked at something similar. Way too pricey for me which is why I decided on the hairnets. I can get 70 for about 10.00. The ones that surround one flower will handle one bunch of fruit but the ones protecting 2 or 3 will have to get replaced. Easy with a safety pin or stapler. I can see why those bags would work well for figs. Pawpaws come on a bunch of 4 so it is a wide grouping. Now I have to figure out how to support the lower branches once the fruit starts growing I think I will have to string some of them up.
My asparagus are about done for the year ;(
No high jacking around here. Bluebirds are spectalular. Birds are our little pals. They do so much. Please post some pics, I love Bluebirds.
Ours are just kicking in here in west Michigan. We have 4 rows about 6 foot long each. Enough for the 2 of us easy. I never freeze any and we never buy it at the store. When it’s fresh it has so much flavor and a sweetness you don’t find at the store. Plus it is on sale this week 1.99 a pound. Yikes! Glad we have our own. Today its a grilled basket of veggies including asparagus. And a couple of marinated chicken breasts.
Had a Red Heeler/Lab mix named Kiowa and a cat named Keechi( keech-eye)(they are both departed). Kiowa is easy, yet Keechi were a band of Caddo: Keechi meant fish.
You have a ton of that! I have a 4x4 bed and thats it. I am the only one who eats it, so I didn’t go crazy with it. Wish I had planted more though. It is great on the grill.
This is our first that is not a Treeing Walker Coon Hound or a Plott Hound.
She did very well overnight, considering it was her first night alone, coming from a litter of 12 pups.
Our nearest neighbor raises Blue Heeler pups and gets big money for them. They are gorgeous dogs, and just excellent help for their horse ranch. I love having them as neighbors, especially this time of year when all the foals are being born.
Yes grill is best, although most days I sautee in a tiny bit of olive oil, salt, pepper, and a pat of butter as a finish . I sprinkle some good parmesan on top. We like them a little on the crunchy side, never squishy.
