“It will offer buyers a standard-range battery that can travel an estimated 230 miles on a full charge as well as a larger extended-range battery projected to deliver 300 miles of range. Pricing for the 2022 F-150 Lightning will start around $40,000 for the entry-level model. The mid-level XLT will cost $53,000.
We’re estimating the base price will be around $42,000 including a mandatory destination charge (Ford hasn’t yet released the exact destination charge). The XLT will start around $55,000 and the Lariat and Platinum versions will be considerably more expensive — Ford says it will go up to $90,000.”

that other $30k, is prolly paid for by the taxpayers...
You can reduce the expected mileage with a full charge by about 20% since the given numbers are under optimal conditions. Flat roads, no a/c no headlights and no headwinds.
$40,000? No thanks.
How much is the 2nd steering wheel option?
Electric Vehicles SUCK!
“big surprise is the $40K price”
Stripped down model! It’s like some Texas dealerships baiting buyers with an ultralow price new car that the buyers find out comes without A/C.
I am shocked that anyone would get charged up over this truck.
For Texans is that with or without the A/C running?
So when you charge this Pickup do you use Wind? Solar? Natural gas, coal.. Sometimes the charging stations will cost more than the Pickup especially if your house needs a rewire to accommodate this charging station.. What if you don’t have a garage or carport??
Tow 10,000 pounds? I might look into it.... Looks like a F-150, instead of Telsa:s truck which is ugly
It has a future, though a restricted one. Fleets? Doubtful when it comes to most. I know fleet guys that drive 1,000-1,500 miles a week. They don’t want to charge 3-8 times a week. I know, 300 mile range. The range under less than perfect conditions will be the key.
On the other hand, there are a lot of trucks bought today that don’t work. They carry some bags of garden soil home from Ace Hardware every spring. For those truck people, this could be a great solution. Also, I think Tesla just got bumped right out of the pickup truck biz. When it comes to pickups the Ford brand is untouchable.
No thanks.
Has the battery been tested in temperatures around 0 degrees F?
Might work okay for people living below the 45th parallel.
“The big surprise is the $40K price. “
Meaning it is selling at a loss.
Charges 3 miles in an hour at 120 volts.
Bwahahahahahahahahahah
So what do you think a realistic number is when towing off road, 200, 150, 100 ???
Yeah, I would want to be stuck out in the middle of the woods camping without a charging station ...
8 hours of down time to recharge. Reportedly if you want to charge it from your home you need a 80 watt circuit.
Off reading?
When you run out of fuel in the boonies, just pop open the 5 gallon jerrycan and pour in some fresh kilowatt hours.
Electric vehicles is barking up the wrong tree. The range is too limited and recharge time too long. If it was a hybrid, even a plug in one, it would make more sense, even with reduced range on batteries. It would be good enough for short trips and for longer ones, the generator/engine would kick in. IIRC, McClaren racing and Porsche have developed synthetic gasoline from methanol which the fuel is hydrogen based and you can use it in any internal combustion engine with no modification. They say the emissions are very low or none at all. That is the more logical way. EV’s are good for short runabout trips but beyond that niche, forget about it. Between this new Ford and my friend’s 1919 Model-T pickup, I’d take the Model-T
