A few key F-150 Lightning specs:

*The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is a five-passenger SuperCrew cab with a 5.5-foot bed. These are the same dimensions as its conventional counterpart, meaning common accessories and equipment will work and fit just the same.

*Maximum payload of 2,000 pounds, of which 400 pounds can go in the frunk where the engine used to be.

*It can tow up to 10,000 pounds.

*With extended battery: 563 horsepower, 775 lb-ft of torque, and a driving range of about 300 miles on a single charge.

*With standard battery: 426 hp, 775 lb-ft, and a range of about 230 miles.

*Front and rear motors provide standard all-wheel drive, and skidplates protect the underbody while off-roading.

The big surprise is the $40K price. It was expected the base model would start closer to $70K. At minimum any corporate buyers will have to consider it.

“It will offer buyers a standard-range battery that can travel an estimated 230 miles on a full charge as well as a larger extended-range battery projected to deliver 300 miles of range. Pricing for the 2022 F-150 Lightning will start around $40,000 for the entry-level model. The mid-level XLT will cost $53,000.

We’re estimating the base price will be around $42,000 including a mandatory destination charge (Ford hasn’t yet released the exact destination charge). The XLT will start around $55,000 and the Lariat and Platinum versions will be considerably more expensive — Ford says it will go up to $90,000.”

You can reduce the expected mileage with a full charge by about 20% since the given numbers are under optimal conditions. Flat roads, no a/c no headlights and no headwinds.

$40,000? No thanks.

“big surprise is the $40K price”

Stripped down model! It’s like some Texas dealerships baiting buyers with an ultralow price new car that the buyers find out comes without A/C.

LMAO!

Ford is part of the Dem machine.

They asked the Govt to limit their production of SUV’s and Trucks their Customers wanted.

They loathe their Customers like DC Politicians.

Then don’t buy one.
I had one, was delighted, intend to get another.

Like a Tesla mechanic friend told me.

You’ll never get 150,000 out of this vehicle.

"driving range of about 300 miles on a single charge."

For Texans is that with or without the A/C running?

Yes, and what’s the effect of hooking up a trailer with a trackhoe and trying to tow it?

While running the AC, of course.

Now OTOH... the hybrid model is intriguing. A truck with a big generator built in.

And for those of us who get to enjoy the season called ‘winter’ there’s the heater.
