This past year the COVID-19 pandemic has affected every facet of our society, perhaps nowhere more starkly than the education sector. Despite the massive disruption caused by COVID-19, teachers have persevered, with the best interests of students at the top of their minds. They deserve an enormous amount of thanks as well as the continued support from all of us to carry on in this challenging environment. Appreciation for teachers should not last just one week – they should constantly feel our gratitude.

Your dealings with the school system must have been while you were ASLEEP. The only way you "right" a book is to straighten its alignment if it's leaning. Perhaps you mean "write", as to author something, compose a series of words into a meaningful phrase. A book of "antidotes" might prove useful if you were traveling in snake country, but if you actually are discussing a book recounting personal stories, you'd be dealing with ANECDOTES. Get your act together before you attack teachers.
My niece went to an A+ rated school in a mostly agricultural area and now she’s a Trump hating socialist.
There was this excerpt:

At that time, many teachers felt vilified and expendable for voicing their concerns about being in a classroom when so much remained unknown about the transmission of the coronavirus..."
What a load of horse snot. Plenty was known about transmission "by fall".
Boy, did this passage piss me off:

Talk about "It's all about ME" with entitled unionized teachers.
If Teachers were expected to hold down a second job simultaneously WITH NO PAY, be a caregiver for the family, run a household, shuttle kids to various places and appointments, AND teach the children, they would indeed be "superheroes".
(As an aside, I am sick to DEATH of the use of the description "hero", never mind the juvenile "superhero" to describe people involved with this contagion. Early on, and I mean, early on, I had a significant amount of respect for those who had to continue to do their jobs in the face of uncertainty. but after the middle of March 2020, we knew a lot about this contagion. These "educators", people who "follow the science" if you can believe the signs many of them have on their lawns, didn't want to "follow the science".)
Anyway, if these "superheroes" by their own estimation had to do all that, sure. But they don't. They are teachers. They had one job, and they were refusing in many cases to do it, and fully expected to get paid for that refusal.
That article made me want to spit on the ground.
I take my hat off to the people who worked through those uncertain times, and that includes those teachers in states that have had full classrooms in spite of the NEA fearmongering and Union BS. If I had a kid in those school systems, I would want a refund of tax dollars for teaching NOT done (online BS doesn't count) and a refusal to pay teachers who wouldn't show up in person to teach.
We do show our gratitude. WE PAY THEM. Sorry for shouting
but these pampered town employees just need to do their jobs and shut up.
Most K-12 grads are. The GOP is asleep at the switch when it comes to reforms.
Yep. I know a woman who teaches at a Catholic school, and she has been teaching.
Many are not doing their jobs, K-12 is socialist indoctrination.

Sounds like Babylon Bee sarcasm to me. Teachers have only had their own best interests in their minds. “How lazy can I be and still get paid?”
It’s becoming more and more obvious that too many teachers and, nearly without exception, teachers union leaders care as much about children as communists care about workers (or as much as feminists care about women).
My friend is a Teacher in the City of Chicago - he has so many benefits that he has to read the list to keep up. He will rake in a pension of over 100K after 30 years with full insurance for the rest of his life.
He has not been in a classroom since March 2020. They have a tough life.

“Doing as little as possible and getting away with it”.
Years ago I was involved in Medical Ultrasound and the representative group is the SDMS with yearly dues. When they doubled the fees I questioned them and the response was they need more funds to help lobby Congress for greater recognition. That’s when I cut off my membership. We were all for medical education and growth of the industry but why the hades did we have to lobby Congress for recognition? Upper management educators in unions and societies love their power trips and authoritative control and in bed with Big Govt. Had no regret not giving them another dime.
Homeschooling and private education teachers need not apply. Some teachers are more equal than others.
I have always thought that if we are going to do online teaching, why not outsource it to India or Taiwan? They may be more pro-American.

This is not to knock all teachers. My friend is a HS Art teacher and she’s just frustrated beyond the moon on having to do online remote sessions and trying to keep up with all the kids both in and out of class. On top of that the Administrators keep piling on layers of pc BS with the sensitivity trainings and all other BS not related to teaching Art skills. They make her now document everything by computer too. She’s turning 66 and retiring and needless to say she can’t wait to exit that maze of frustration.
Good teachers are a part of the problem, not the solution.
They have appointed themselves as the new heroes of the state.
