Will Cyber Polygon 2021 be as prophetic as Event 201 in simulating a pandemic response? perspective
The World Economic Forum will stage another cyber attack exercise as it continues to prep for a potential cyber pandemic that founder Klaus Schwab says will be worse than the current global crisis.
The SolarWinds hack served as a wake-up call to the supply chain attack vulnerabilities still present in public and private organizations, and it served as a warning that the next breach could be exponentially worse in spreading through any device connected to the internet.
Following up on last year’s Cyber Polygon cyber attack exercise and event aimed at preventing a digital pandemic, the WEF has announced that the 2021 edition will be taking place on July 9.
“A cyber attack with COVID-like characteristics would spread faster and farther than any biological virus” — World Economic Forum
Cyber Polygon 2021 will simulate a fictional cyber attack with participants from dozens of countries responding to “a targeted supply chain attack on a corporate ecosystem in real time.”
According to the WEF, COVID-19 was known as an anticipated risk, and so is its digital equivalent.
What’s more, “A cyber attack with COVID-like characteristics would spread faster and farther than any biological virus. Its reproductive rate would be around 10 times greater than what we’ve experienced with the coronavirus.”
“It is important to use the COVID-19 crisis as a timely opportunity to reflect on the lessons of cybersecurity community to draw and improve our unpreparedness for a potential cyber pandemic” — Klaus Schwab
Here, we take a look at three trends emerging from Cyber Polygon 2020 to uncover what moves the public and private sectors may make in anticipation of a digital pandemic.
But first, where did the notion of a cyber pandemic come from?

And yet we fail to prepare pr stop them.
I have an idea, let’s take our massive law enforcement infrastructure and focus on Trump.
Not just India, a lot of companies are outsourcing programming to countries like Ukraine, Croatia, Bulgaria, and other Commonwealth of Independent States (formal states of Soviet Republics).
——————-
A VAST, VAST majority of H1B trash is from India. Period. As is a vast amount of outsourcing.
The former countries under Soviet control produce programmers FAR, FAR superior to anything India can produce.
Funny, I had this exact thought before even clicking the thread.
Simplified: computer viruses spread faster than biological viruses. Well, daah.

I think they referred to Event 201 as War Gaming. Basically making a plan and brainstorming to ensure viability.
I do hope everyone is prepping for whatever is to come. Natural disasters, pandemics, financial bubble crashes, demcommie purposeful crashes, global powers purposeful crashes, socialism/communism, likely on a global scale which is the purpose and goal of the WEC. Prepping for one is prepping for all to some degree. Natural disasters is more short term prepping. Everything else is prepping for something long term and step one would be to get out of a blue zone. Find your retreat and move to it. Any State that went overboard with lockdowns and rules, took part in the 2020 fraud, sent covid into nursing homes are not the places you want to be. Get out now. If you live on a postage stamp piece of property, think about getting something bigger so you can garden and maybe even get some livestock. Look for low maintenance breeds, not the ones that gain weight super fast that tend to be high maintenance and lack survival instincts.
Thanks for the info!
Here’s the next drill.
Thx for the ping
It is practice and they look at it all the way down to public messaging.
Next up, internet crash. And instead of medical experts we are to listen to...it is computer college educated experts.
Everything connected to the net goes down. I lived through the Great East Coast Blackout in early 2000’s. No access to fuel, no access to water, no access to food. Grocery stores initially giving away perishables at the door to feed the hungry. And no communication unless you had a battery operated radio or generator. The no water part was most worrisome as you couldn’t even flush the toilet and water/sewer couldn’t be pumped to treatment. And this was just in a few days in a 1st World country. Mid-size city.

A major outage knocked out power across the eastern United States and parts of Canada on August 14, 2003. Beginning at 4:10 p.m. ET, 21 power plants shut down in just three minutes. Fifty million people were affected, including residents of New York, Cleveland and Detroit, as well as Toronto and Ottawa, Canada. Although power companies were able to resume some service in as little as two hours, power remained off in other places for more than a day. The outage stopped trains and elevators, and disrupted everything from cellular telephone service to operations at hospitals to traffic at airports. In New York City, it took more than two hours for passengers to be evacuated from stalled subway trains. Small business owners were affected when they lost expensive refrigerated stock. The loss of use of electric water pumps interrupted water service in many areas. There were even some reports of people being stranded mid-ride on amusement park roller coasters.
Yep.
I went through something similar, in about the same time, on the other side of the country, in my little mountain resort town for five days. Three forest fires around the town burned down the main power lines, phone lines, etc going into and out of the town; closed the three paved roads into /out of town making evacuation nearly impossible for anyone who didn’t know the dirt back roads that were still safe.
The stores shut down immediately: “our head office won’t let us sell anything without the computer system being up, because it will screw up the inventory”. (plus, their clerks had no clue of how to make change without the computer telling them how much to give. No gasoline could be pumped.
Water ran out the second day.
Emergency services had no backup generator. I loaned the Police Department one of my generators so that they could run the base station radio. A contractor with his own gravity fed fuel tanks kept the police and fire departments vehicles running.
The regional airport had no backup power for either their radios or night landing lights.
Only the hospital had a functioning generator, and it ran out of fuel on the third day.
It was an intense several days.
After it was all over, the town and the airport got Federal Grants of a couple of million dollars for generators , emergency fuel supplies etc.
Two years later, the same thing happened again.... and guess what?!?, They STILL had no generators. They did have a hundred gallon gravity gasoline tank for the police vehicles, and a hundred gallon diesel tank for the fire engines. That didn’t last long, of course. And I once again loaned the PD a generator to run the base station.
No one seemed to wonder where all the Grant money really went.
After another big federal grant, a few years later, all the emergency services finally were fairly well prepared. But even now, if the power goes out, all the grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants shut down, with no backup power, no computers, and clerks that still couldn’t make change on their own for a $5.00 sale if you handed them a ten dollar bill, even if the stores did open.
So we’ve had the Texas outage, weather related, and Biden refused to help.
Now the gas shortage, due to hackers
I suspect very few are really paying attention.
Can’t wait for hurricane season!
