Endangered California condors 'absolutely trash' woman's house, won't leave
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | MAY 7, 2021 | Ashley Harrell

Under normal circumstances, a person would welcome the opportunity to closely observe a group of California condors, North America’s largest flying land birds, which made a miraculous recovery after nearly becoming extinct in the 1980s.

But over the weekend, more than a dozen of the majestic birds descended on a woman’s home and “absolutely trashed her deck,” according to a tweet from the woman’s daughter, Twitter user Seana Lyn.

“They still haven’t left,” Seana Lyn tweeted Tuesday. “It sucks but also this is unheard of, there’s only 160 of these birds flying free in the state and a flock of them decided to start a war with my mom.”

Seana Lyn also posted photos of the condors, all tagged with numbers that correspond with birds released in Southern California’s Kern County, along with the utter destruction of the deck.

“[My mom] does think this is pretty amazing but also the worst,” she wrote. “They keep hanging out on her roof and railings messing with stuff and pooping everywhere. Trees are fine but not in the house please.”

Intrigued Twitter users, along with an employee behind the U.S. Fish and Game Twitter account have weighed in, with at least four people making jokes about how the woman’s home should now be referred to as a “condorminium.”

A hose attached to a motion sensor would do it, too.

“They probably taste like chicken.”

Mark. No they certainly don’t. ( Yes, I know you are just fooling here!)

ive eaten vulture, ostrich and ñandu (similar to ostrich), as well as goats; never done cocaine thought, and i can promise u its edible, however, i would not recommend it to eat roasted, this tipes of meat require some elaborate preparation (like the coment about roasted or in the oven). the reason for this is that this kinds of animals (except goat, thats whole other deal) have a lot of bone and little mean, hence the little meat they have is super packed with mussle fiber, which mekes it super rubbery, and most of them are very strong (gamey). if u are determined to eat them, try doing some broth, maybe dice them and do hamburgers, things like that.

As of the health risks, any scavengers contains super strong stomach acid in order to disolve any and all rotten flesh, bones, etc. bacteria wise, any and all wilde birds have a lot of them (DO NOT EAT WILD PIDGEON, OR UL NEVER GET OUT OF THE WC) so they do need a particular process, most of the time a hard boil would do, but cleaning a bird that is constantly surrounded by decaying flesh might require some extra steps.

(To repeat! “cleaning a bird that is constantly surrounded by decaying flesh might require some extra steps.”)

all in all, as the man said, if its alive, u can eat it; but if u want to keep eating them and not die of disentery, u might want to contact someone who specializes in preparing this tipe of meat.”

There you be! Gamey, tough, and it carries around decaying blood and flesh with decay bacteria. Bon Appatit!

I do consider that "natural". Man has a place in this world, too.

You really want wolves and wild boar in your yard?

Pet peeve of mine when vultures are misnamed “buzzards”, a species of predatory hawk.

Turkey vultures are themselves a species of condor, and quite useful for eating up the roadkill. Their wingspan at about five feet does not match their California cousin’s nine-foot wingspan.

Too many people in SoCal. That’s the problem. 5 million fewer would solve the problem of wildlife interactions. I’d sooner live with condors than assh*les.

These behemoth buzzards will tear the hell out of an ATV seat. But they are something to see as they soar overhead.

Turkey vultures showed up at my former house every spring.

They would run after me when I was trying to get home.

Not a fan.

I could never get that close to any; as soon as they saw me, they launched right into the air.
