Suicide and/or OD are not considered “suspicious”. It’s only suspicious if there are injuries or circumstances consistent with homicide.

It could ALSO be a situation where cops know some things that we don’t and have put one and one together.

Probably steroids and whatever replaced cocaine as the party drug of choice.

Or just maybe a heart failure of natural causes........I prefer not to jump over the cliff of conclusions........

I was, I thought, replying to the person blaming COVID. I should have used a /S switch.

There are times that speculation should be held within. Info will be coming, and those that are patient will not have to change their thoughts when it does. With his father having a heart attack at the peak of fitness (he was beginning to compete in the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon) I’m thinking that it isn’t a drug matter. But who knows? Time will tell. Texas just completed its Spring Football practices, and death was shortly after noon. His brother Sam is/was a gamer and top drawer. I’m confident that Jake was like his brother. Oh, this is written by an avid OU Sooner fan that is the arch enemy of Texas. I wouldn’t wish this on any family. I’ve got to think that the Mother is torn up to have two of her loves taken from her at young ages. I wish the best for Sam and his family. Times are tough. A few years ago OU had a very good linebacker (Austin Box) die due to too many opioids as he attempted to deal with pain. They were prescription. All drug induced death is not the same as Len Byas. Are they sometimes used wrongly? Maybe. But until we know more information, it is wrong for any of us to speculate in the open. Sorry, but those are my $0.02.

"Top specimens do occasionally die naturally, from a combo of some defect combined with brutal workout regimens. Defects that might hide quietly in most people."

Concur. A young lady from my church was the picture of health and was on her high school cross country team. On the second year of her participation in cross country, she passed out during a race. It turned out she had a heart defect so serious that they considered heart surgery. Her doctors were amazed that it had not shown any symptoms earlier.

And that defect might have hidden until older age for someone who didn’t push their body to the limits.

“Drugs. Big surprise.”

Really sad when that happens. They have so much future, yet they just can’t control their need to ‘party-down’.

Thanks for posting what many of us were thinking!:

Sounds like a coverup. Because top physical specimens in the prime of life usually don't turn up dead without something causing it.

My brother and I both inherited hyperganglias from my mother. In my case, mine was on my leg and disappeared naturally as I grew older.

My brother’s was on his brain, laying dormant and undetected until he turned 55. My brother is a brilliant, extremely successful businessman who enjoys skiing, jet skis, swimming, and eats healthy. Had it been a regular aneurysm, he would have died. Because it was a hyperganglia that ruptured, he miraculously survived.

You never know what interesting tidbits are mixed into a person’s genetic stew.

Condolences to his family.

After Vince Foster you can still make a statement like that with a straight face? (And Bernie Made-off's son, and the Kennedy wife, and the etc)
