Hopefully the food isn’t that old; but back then they didn’t have pull dates so maybe ....?

“d” means “pence,” I think.

Irish Stew?
You would think that cannibalism would be gone by 1913.

The British embrace their history more closely than most of us in this country. I’m sure much will be made of this discovery. They will probably have that menu framed, under glass and on display in the restaurant.
Might even take a few entres and desserts from the old menu to feature them now. That’s what I would do to attract attention while coming out of this pandemic.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Beef chump chops are the steaks behind the loin.
They are apologetic some dishes are a 10 minute wait. Today, you’re lucky to get your meal in an hour.

Menu reads like it is straight out of Escoffier’s cookbook.

Looks like a pretty posh menu compared to what regular working people would have for their diet back then.

I’ll have the Scotch Broth, followed by the Scotch Broth. To drink, I’ll have the Scotch Broth.

Why does British food suck?
To: mylife
Looking at the Irish Stew, priced at 1 shilling (in decimal money: 5 pence), implies a price inflation of about 100 to 120 times since 1913.

Chicken cutlets and spaghetti sounds intriguing.
