Agreed. We all must rely on critical thinking and personal observation and experience. I figured out the media was lying in 1969 so I do not believe anything I cannot verify personally or with my own connections around the world. (And every year I lose a few of those. Not many left now.)
I do not know what is actually happening out there but I know the media is lying. I only know for sure what is happening on this island: Since March 2020 there have been less than a hundred people who tested positive, mostly arriving visitors or residents returning from the lower forty eight. Half a dozen people reported mild to moderate symptoms early in the panic. No one has been hospitalized or evacuated for treatment. No one has died of COVID 19 on the island. About half of the 3000 residents have now been vaccinated.
I am not a kid. I do not see the need for me personally to wear a mask or take the shot under these circumstances.
That’s to prevent swapping spit. I usually don’t get that close to people in public.
Personally, I fell in the soup today.. and stupidly commented. I hate this worn out subject, don’t you? Particularly on this thread.. dull as dishwater, cause of much sleepiness, distraction, bs, good for sucking up band width.

We should all do what our own research (and our doctors) determine what is best. I have no qualms about differing opinions nor in expressing those differences.
What is disturbing, and this is not directed at you, is when one side tries to forces the other to do what they believe is harmful. In this case wearing masks for every waking hour and every activity, or forcing vaccines.
COVID is political-it is being used to control people, trying to use peer pressure to enslave us all to their whims. Although individual doctors may or may not b trustworthy, I am certain those who are profiting from a Ovid are not.

Agree 100%. I am looking at family that has had covid, what precautions they took or didn’t take, what my doctor and other local experts claim. I won’t take the shot. My doctor said “wear the mask in crowds, get the flu and pneumonia shot, don’t get the covid shot, and take all the other precautions.
I have been told online that masks don’t work to protect against a virus. Well, why did my asthma doctor tell me in 2008, WAY before covid, to get my flu shot and wear the mask in crowds? Last I heard the flu is a virus. I have family in the medical field. They wear the standard medical mask when working on patients if working closely or doing surgery. According to them they wear the mask to “prevent me from giving a cold or other illness to the patient if I don’t know I’m getting sick”.
I’m 66 with asthma. Other than the asthma I’m healthy. I don’t trust most doctors but I trust these two. I prefer to trust them over what I read online. I consider and think about what I read online but still make up my own mind after thinking about it and seeing what is actually happening around me. I don’t know anybody personally that has died from covid except for my sister’s co-worker. She said he was healthy but how can she really know?
I know for sure I don’t trust the government, the CDC, or the WHO. I for sure refuse to blindly follow what I read on the Internet.
Here’s how to tell the mask narrative is a political intervention rather than a medical one: the fact that risks of wearing masks were never part of the equation.
Medical treatments and interventions come with a discussion of both risks and benefits. The mask thing ignored the risks. It was all political.

Not trying to start a thread war, but there are excellent doctors who believe that masks (cloth or the little blue paper ones) are more harmful than helpful. Unless a true properly fitted mask that is made to protect and filter against virus particles. Excellent doctors disagree. Your comment was pretty judgemental and derogatory. (“Glad your doctor takes corona seriously, implying if others dont have the same view - they dont take it seriously). Maybe you’ve just been flamed by the anti maskers and are fed up with that attittude, so striking back, but I hope on this thread that we can give grace to different opinions.

I agree with that 100%. Both sides are doing damage trying to prove a political point. Our health, whatever our circumstances, shouldn’t consider politics first.
I agree 100% that the covid virus(?) was designed as a bio-weapon by China and the left. I believe it was a dud as far as bioweapons go and they had to make a “vaccine” to finish the job the virus failed to do. That’s my opinion. I don’t intend to make everybody believe what I do. Still, it’s a disease that I don’t want to get since I have asthma. If wearing the stupid mask (yes, I dislike them too) helps even a scintilla, I will wear it.
I agree that mandates that say everybody, healthy or not, has to wear one is a scare tactic for control. Still, see the above reason why I do it. I only wear one in intense crowds, never outside, and never in a vehicle. That’s just not necessary IMO but I won’t make fun of somebody that does or call them names.
True story....I was in Tractor Supply about a month ago. There was a sign on the door stating masks were REQUIRED. I go in because I expect people to have them on. I realized that most didn’t have them on. I turned to leave and an anti-masker “Karen” crossed the aisle and put her face right in mine and laughed. I didn’t say a word. I backed up at the same time her husband grabbed her and pulled her away from me. He apologized while she laughed and smirked. Those are the sorts I have an intense dislike for right about now.
When I see people here making fun of people that choose to wear one, calling them names like “sheeple” and “low IQ”, I tend to react due to my personal experiences. I really hope people that do that here are not like that in public. Most of those posts I skim over and probably should all of them. The “hacks” I was referring to are the ones that call names and claim science 100% says they don’t work. You can look hard enough and find anything online that will back up a belief. I’m not sure about that second claim and don’t want elderly people that are more timid told not to do something that might help. That’s all. I think most Freepers mean well even if I think they are wrong.
