Three-time Indy 500 winner Bobby Unser dies at 87
Racing champion Bobby Unser died in his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico of natural causes at the age of 87. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway made the announcement on Monday.
Unser was a three-time Indianapolis 500 winner, taking victory at the iconic race in 1968, 1975 and 1981 and is part of the only pair of brothers to ever win that race. Just ten drivers have won the Indianapolis 500 three times and only two have won in three decades, Unser and Rick Mears.
Team Penske released a statement, offering condolences to his family and reflecting on his career.
I was there for every win. Rip Bobby, you were the golden age.
He was drafting you........................
haha!
I seem to remember both Unsers as being very consistent racer, almost always placing near the top.
To be honest, a top auto racer living to the age of 87 is almost miraculous. However, the legendary A.J. Foyt will be 87 next January. RIP Bobby.
“will be here to say he died of a Covid vaccine administered somewhere in the same area code that he resides.”
The first propagandist is your comment claiming he couldn’t have possibly died of a vaccine.
Much too young to die...
At MY age, Methuselah was much too young..................
Flat earthers = those who are NOT ALL anti-vax, but do question the safety and efficacy of these experimental, unproven agent, China virus shots.
These FRVP/*FRocters* really need to get some new material.
LOLOL!!
RIP Bobby Under and prayers to his family... One of the best driver...
I remember seeing him and his brother and many others of their era race at the Rex Mays Classic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the first weekend after the Indy 500. Unfortunately, the programs I got his and their autographs are long gone.
This year’s Indy 500 will not be run until Sunday, May 30, 2021. I’m guessing that RDL was watching some other race yesterday, or a re-run of the 2020 race.
They’re just trolls. They only have shown up on covid threads to support government actions against us.
There was an indycar race at Texas Speedway yesterday

First race I went to was in 75, back in the Snake Pit days.
Been to over 30 races since then. Been watching since I was a little kid!!
The best part of the 500 is honoring our military.
One year Aerosmith sang The Star Spangled Banner. Instead of sing “and the home of the brave”, they sang “and the home of the Indianapolis 500”. Crowd was P.O.ed MAJOR.
Several years ago they had several elderly WWII Veterans as part of the opening ceremony. The only race that I ever cried at.
MMMmmmmmm.
Ah, but NOT the Indy 500. I don’t even recognize that style of “Indy car.” When did it come in vogue?
Not sure when but they do look odd.
I didn’t even know it ran yesterday.
***********
The race yesterday was in Texas not the Indy 500.
The Indy will be Sunday, May 30, 2021
