With his latest pronouncement about Critical Race Theory, DeSantis shows the kind of political courage every Republican politician should have.
It’s currently unclear whether Donald Trump wants to run for President again in 2024 or whether he’ll content himself with playing kingmaker. In the latter case, lots of people are looking at Florida’s Ron DeSantis, whose refusal to bow down to leftist shibboleths is catching conservatives’ attention. His latest pronouncement that Critical Race Theory is “a bunch of horse manure” will only raise his profile with all sensible Americans.
Most people living outside of Florida weren’t paying attention to Florida governor Ron DeSantis before 2020. However, in 2020, DeSantis showed himself to be a different kind of leader. While governors across America, especially Democrat governors, were turning their states into totalitarian dictatorships with broken economies, DeSantis increased protections for the elderly and other vulnerable people in Florida, and then allowed life to continue pretty much as usual – no masks, no lockdowns. (I should add that many conservative states successfully resisted the extreme COVID mask and lockdown madness that Democrat governors showed. None, however, were as large as Florida or as entirely resistant to masks and lockdowns.)
DeSantis’s constitutional, liberty-oriented approach to dealing with COVID has driven leftists around the bend. What’s been especially irritating for them is that mask- and lockdown-free Florida had significantly better COVID outcomes than states with comparable populations, such as California and New York. That’s why outlets such as 60 Minutes have been reduced to using blatant dishonesty to attack DeSantis’s competence and honesty.
Not only did DeSantis manage COVID in his state with courage and intelligence, but he also has willingly signed or promised to sign legislative bills protecting citizens in his state from physically or ideologically dangerous leftist policies and practices:

Trump has made it crystal clear that he wants to run for President again in 2024. But in keeping with the current style of fictitious narrative building, she has to insert that phrase, an obvious lie, at the beginning, to justify writing the rest of her piece, which is solely to promote DeSantis.

I’m not fooled - he’s a RINO!!!!
Why do I know that? Easy, he supported raising the tolls from $1.00 to $1.80 on the Sun Coast Turnpike, when they only needed to be raised to $1.75 to pay the increased operational costs. Only a RINO would do such a thing...pocketing an extra nickel from every driver there.
Therefore, if he’s on the ticket in November, 2024, I’m sitting the out the election because WE DO NOT NEED ANYMORE RINOs in DC!!!
We need PURITY in this party, I tell you we need PURITY!!! No more holding my nose and voting, I’d prefer a Democrat in the White House, compared to this RINO!!!

Except that does seem to be the case with some people here, quite a few, based on my post from yesterday. I got in trouble for calling them idiots (before they posted anything), so now I’ll just imitate them, with a bit of exaggeration thrown in.

Just having some fun, but seriously, I don’t see how he shakes off his February trip to the tropics and also his attack on Trump after Jan 6th. I’m not sure with DeSantis on Jan 6, but I don’t remember him attacking Trump or Trump’s supporters.

A year is a lifetime in politics. I’d hate to see anything positive President Trump accomplished be destroyed with another Praetorian Guard attack.
