Top Democrats from California are showing support for Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) amid a GOP-led recall effort targeting him as the California Democratic Party holds its annual convention.
In video messages to the convention released by the state party on Saturday, Democrats including Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Vice President Harris, formerly a U.S. senator from California, showed their support for the governor.
"I want to thank our friend and governor, Gavin Newsom, for his leadership," Harris said at the beginning of her video message, adding, "I support him 100 percent."
"With the leadership of Gov. Gavin Newsom and [California Democratic Party Chairman] Rusty Hicks, we will continue strengthening our state," Pelosi added.
Newsom addressed the recall effort in his own video message to the convention, claiming that "national Republicans and extreme right-wingers, they're not sitting back. They're throwing everything they can at their recall power grab all in hopes - all in hopes - of rolling back all the important progress we have made together."
"We can't let them win," he added.

For half a second, I looked at the headline and saw:
“Harris, Pelosi backing Newsom recall effort”.
I was quietly shocked and a little bit thrilled that
“Aunt Nancy’ had turned on her wayward, haphazard Nephew!
Then I took another look and saw the qualifier ‘amid’, which produces the exact opposite message I had hoped for.
Polls, polls you say? They are nothing more than attempts to sway public opinion, not objective news. So what? Let the voters decide and suffer the consequences.
I appreciate your hopeful optimism.. I really do.
But...it’s California. With a gaggle of Republicans in the mix spreading out what precious little of the GOP vote remains in that state and more than half that state’s voters backing Newsom, the chances of winning the nationwide Powerball exceed those of Cali electing anything other than a dem.

Well, in the case of Davis, they removed a RAT and installed a RINO who would govern the same way, therefore making recall pointless.
Yes that’s right, wasn’t it Arnold who replaced him? And then came Brown? It’s like a bunch of junkies, they try to quit but they always fall back.
