If you visited Apollon Nimo at his Detroit-based Parkway Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram dealership, you might have walked out with a damn good deal...
In the majority of transactions that prosecutors allege were fraudulent, buyers claimed to be the brother-in-law or sister-in-law of an FCA employee to get a 5 percent discount. The discount codes, known as Employee Purchase Control Numbers (EPCNs), were often bought and sold through private Facebook groups.
Nimo frequently topped the list of auto sellers who sold cars using employee discounts and was handsomely rewarded for being a top salesman. He reportedly received $700,000 in bonuses directly from FCA since 2014, when he first started using his codes—and that’s in addition to dealership-specific rewards.

On a certain lever old Sergio would be smiling about this guy. DeLorean too!
What a great deal for his customers. Unfortunately they had to buy a Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler or Ram.
I would have gladly paid a little bit more and bought a better than average vehicle.
And what the f is “FCA”?
Never mind — I try to not waste my time communicating with idiots.
How many sales did he save because of the discounts?
FCA = Fiat Chrysler Automobiles
Yeah. Fake discount equals a sale. A sale that would might have gone to another manufacturer or maybe to a used car lot.
Did I miss something?...what or who is FCA?
I just bought a 2021 RAM 1500 Laramie Southwest Edition with the Hemi E-Torque Engine.
Great Truck and the interior is as nice as the one in my 2020 Corvette Convertible.
Before that I owned a 2015 Dodge Challenger. Great Car as well.
No complaints about FCA, but I am Italian after all.
Forgot to mention, I got the new RAM for $10,500 under Sticker with no Family discount.
“No complaints about FCA, but I am Italian after all.”
I believe that they own Ferrari and Alfa-Romeo too.
Congrats on your new truck purchase. Buying a new Ram is probably a good idea if you must buy a truck.
What with Chevrolet and GMC producing some of the ugliest trucks ever built anywhere. What with the Ford F150‘s starting to rust out before they even leave the dealership. What with the Toyota Tundra still using a design from 15 years ago. And there’s Nissan. A truck that’s not worth mentioning.
All this to say that buying a new truck today is rather a disappointing process.
I won’t buy a new truck, too rich for my blood! When my F-150 dies and goes to truck heaven, I will go to the auto auction and buy another one. I have a friend who is a dealer. The last one I bought just needed a repaint, saved a lot of money.
There’s a reason why you got your Ram so cheap. There’s a reason why it will sell for less than other trucks in similar shape when you go to sell it.
But as long as Ram buyers understand and accept the fact they’re buying a less than adequate truck just because it’s cheaper, then it’s all good.
My kid bought a new car last month because 1) it was the last few made before the stopped the line because they ran out of chips and 2) the discounts.
If not for both of those, he would have waited & kept driving his old car (which due to the used car shortage wasn’t losing any value).
Car Companies are only pissed off about this, now because they have no inventory and people have Biden Bucks to blow.
We are certainly living in crazy times when it comes to new and used car prices.
Many folks mistakenly used to think that it was always cheaper to buy a good used car than a new car.
Now, as you say, new cars or not that available and used car prices are higher than ever. I was reading a blog yesterday about a dealership offering for sale a 2019 Ford Fiesta for $18,000. With about 40,000 miles.
What is so wild about that? Maybe the fact that is over the MSRP when that car was brand new two years ago.
I personally am in the market for a good used half ton truck. However the idea of spending $20-$30,000 or more on a truck that’s already got over 100,000 miles on it just does not appeal to me. Insane!
But that’s the way things are.

FCA is on the way out!
Now Stellantis N.V., whatever that might be?

My husband has an ‘03 F-150, crew cab extended bed filled with tools, dog hair and has 350k miles on it. I swear he probably wants to be buried in it. That man loves his truck as much as he loves me! You couldn’t pry him away from it!
We always buy new, and keep a long time. My wife’s 06 Ram 2500 became mine in 2018. She got a new Ram for her horse hauling. I will keep it till the 18 becomes my driver. We’ve been buying Dodge trucks since mid-90s. Can’t beat the Cummins engine. Had my Jeep since 2004. It is a LJ ( Tj unlimited). We have had good service with all our Chrysler products. I have had Fords and gmc. They are not any better, or worse. Maintenance is everything.
He wasn’t trying to make money. He just liked selling cars. Just like Junior Samples.
