Recently, they took a look at their data from 2021 to chart the most popular baby names (according to their visitors' searches) in 25 different countries.

Some of what they found makes a lot of sense. For example, Ghana's list has Abena, Akosua, and Kofi, which are Akan day names, traditionally given to babies born on a particular day of the week. But the popularity of other names, like Danger, which was searched a lot by Indian and Pakistani readers, is a little more mystifying!

With no further ado, here are the names Nameberry's international readers are searching for the most in 2021:

1. Australia

Girl Names

1. Luna

2. Isla

3. Aurora

4. Mia

5. Maeve

Boy Names

1. Arlo

2. Hugo

3. Oscar

4. Leo

5. Theodore

Just an observation that may speak to the global turning to paganism, there are far fewer traditional Judeo-Christian names than I would have expected, even what could be regarded as the more Christianized countries (”Lucifer,” appeared in the top five in Poland!?!?!)

This is a very cool map of children names in the US since the early 1900s.

I live within walking distance of Choctaw HS. They have a tradition of putting the names of their teams players, football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, etc, on campaign-like signs in the median on game days. I try and read them as I pass on way to and from work. Since it’s a school zone 20 mph. Some of the names are really strange and obviously made up. Hardly and Mikes or Jims, or Billys or Deborahs or Janices........... none at all.............

It is hard to believe the consistency of names especially among eastern and western countries.
