At 2 PM EST on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, was the US Capitol building in Washington DC open to the public?
I welcome accompanying verifying links, etc.
Very good question that I have been curious about myself. I think it is public property and belongs to the people. Hence why they have never been able to close the galleries off from the public. The only change might be the unconstitutional new Covid rules that they think override the legalities of public property access.
Very good comment, thank you!
Considering they held the doors open for people, it must have been.
I think some entrances blocked people while others invited them in. Not sure though.
I applaud the protesters who were outside the Capitol on January 6th. But I have some reservations about those who were inside. Because Nancy Pelosi’s office was certainly closed to the public.
Just sayin’.
The official position is that it was not open to the public. The official position need not correspond with objective reality.
Evidence of the official position is hunderds of criminal trespass charges brought by the government, against people who make up “the public.”
Thank you for that very informative link.
“The Capitol Visitor Center welcomes visitors from across the United States and around the world.
Identification is not required to enter the Capitol or to enjoy a tour.
All tours, programs and activities are free of charge. “

"A public tour of the U.S. Capitol is free and open to anyone who makes an advanced reservation, although there are some same-day tickets available
by standing in line at the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center (note that lines will be long during spring and summer).

Perhaps that’s the wrong question. Just because a building is open does not mean that all activities are allowed. For example, breaking and entering the galleries where congressional business is being conducted. One must also follow the instructions of security and other staff.
This has always been my understanding too. While there may be restricted areas in the building, the biulding it’s self is public access.
the doors were open. the people were waved in by the police. our folks stood in the rope lines. unarmed Ashli Babbit was egged on by a provocateur and summarily executed by some leo, whose id is being covered up, with a gun.
if the doors were open, why was antifa/blm breaking windows? because it was provocation and a planned attack under cover of the rally.
so again, since the first night when, when we had enough information after 24 hours, i said here it wasn’t an insurrection, riot, storming, etc. it was a planned attack by agent provocateurs enabled by the dc police, and mcconnell and pelosi who were supposed to be in charge of security.
Five stars for your homepage.
So essentially, those who were there could be charged with being there without benefit of having an approved ticket ?

So you think they should go to prison?
