It has been two years since customers were first introduced to the Popeyes chicken sandwich. Since then, every other major chain in America has been scrambling to release its own version of the popular menu item—to varying degrees of success. To be clear, most fast food joints have been offering chicken-based sandwiches for decades, but many have stepped up their game since 2019 by focusing on four basic components: thick and juicy breaded chicken breast, pickles, mayo and/or spicy sauce, and a pillowy brioche bun. Judging on those attributes, The Takeout has reviewed the major players’ new chicken sandwiches one by one. Here are the rankings so far.

Nothing, other than home cooked, will EVER beat Zaxby’s IMO ever!
The beauty of dark chicken (legs, thighs or quarters) is that it is difficult to overcook. Unlike chicken breast which gets rubbery and tasteless with just a slight bit of overcooking.
Dark meat is also much tastier. All these fast food places with the chicken breast sandwiches...I wonder what they are doing with all that delicious dark meat.
Lmao. Don’t feel bad. Every month or so I stop at Taco Bell and get a party pack of hard shell (end up being soggy) tacos and the biggest burrito they have (they quit making the one I liked) with a pile of hot sauce. I know they don’t taste that great and they will tare my gut up. But I do it anyways for some reason. The same with chicken nuggets with hot mustard and a double quarter pounder with cheese. Not that great but I just do it. Lately I have been expanding my fast food horizons. I only do it 1 meal per week. The rest of the time is meals of chicken breasts and asparagus. Egg whites and cottage cheese.
Tried Culver’s burger last week. Was ok.
Yes, give me Chick-fil-A any day of the week, I've never had a bad piece of chicken from them. McDonald's is surprisingly pretty good.
I’ll try yours, but here’s mine:
Debone leg quarters (or large thighs). Salt and pepper. Put enough olive oil in a pan to film the bottom. Put the chicken skin side down in the pan and heat until the skin starts to sizzle. Turn down to low, making sue you hear a light sizzle and leave for about an hour. Flip the chicken and turn in the heat long enough to cook the top of the chicken. Drain on paper towels.
I like zaxbys. I get there family size chicken strips in hot sauce and the big thing of Kringle fries. Eat on it for 2 days.
About 10 years ago I suddenly became allergic to wheat products. I’m not sure if it’s the gluten or the chemicals in processed food but I stopped eating it completely.
Some breads I have attempted to eat since then have had less effect. I seem to be able to tolerate pizza (thank god!!!) And some high-quality rye breads.
But I went to a Chick-fil-A because I had to try it, And within an hour I was itching all over.
The sight of all that breading in these pictures makes me nauseous.
By the way I lost a lot of weight since stopping eating bread, and I am no longer hungry all day long like I used to be. Fresh meat and vegetables and fruit, like God intended. It’s not more expensive because one standard size strip steak I can cut into thirds. I also raise my own chickens so the fresh eggs are incredible.
My favorite fast food is the $5 cooked chickens hot and ready at the market.
I’ll buy three or four of them, eat some, and then process the rest to refrigerate, and I’m good for two weeks.
try pumpernickel
i read about a lawsuit recently that the subway tuna isn’t even tuna.....or fish.
yet there is the mc rib...

Clean way to eat. I am lucky and my wife prepares my meals for the week. That don’t mean I won’t occasionally want a pizza around Thursday. Lol. We have a good pizza place by my work called MJ’s. Deluxe with extra cheese. It a huge pizza, a slice is the size of your head. A large is only 25 bucks and we can eat on it for days.
Sorry, but most of these are revolting.
Chick-fil-A is the only one I’ll eat. Popeye’s recipe has good flavor, but almost every time I’ve tried it they’ve been been extremely dry. Might as well throw the money out of the window.
There is a cadre here that hates chik fil a while extolling lesser fast food
I figure it’s personal
Chik Fil A and Popeyes
If it’s a good Popeyes
All Chiks are good....that’s how they run them......Popeyes it depends...
If I pull up to a restaurant and it’s all braids and obese Tamikas......I move on
If its Mexicans I stay
I know this forum hates that fact ...only place whites work fast food is suburban and rural white areas....and they are no guarantee
Wendy’s chicken sandwiches are third
Anything pressed chicken forget it
Nashville of course has its hot chicken which will bite your head off....the super hot will
Speaking of which...
Cheap....Krystal Nashville Hot chik will do just that...blow your head off....it’s pretty good honestly...tell u want hot...
Bang...... https://krystal.com/newsroom/krystal-spices-up-menu-with-nashville-hot-chik-lto/
Loved those, but I probably shortened my life by a couple months everytime I ate one
Is there any wheat flour in pumpernickel?
There’s a place locally that makes a marble rye half-rye half pumpernickel, and it is my favorite
Culvers makes a great chicken sandwich.
