A North Carolina man was killed by police who had been called to search his property early Wednesday morning, police said.
The man, identified by relatives as Andrew Brown, 40, was driving away from officers in Elizabeth City when they shot him around 8:30 a.m., according to police and local TV station WAVY.
“During the execution of the search warrant, a citizen who was subject to the search warrant was shot and fatally wounded,” the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

It’s not a full-fairinged crotch rocket either, and cops will hassle old guys on Honda Gold Wings just the same.
Which is a nice theory, but this sort of thing was happening 20-30 years ago too - it’s just that the internet, the 24 hour news cycle, and the proliferation of cameras have made this more visible to everyone. All of those are double-edged swords, of course; cameras and creative editing make it more likely that an incident might spark riots, but it also means that a real abuse is more likely to be caught on a bystander’s or victim’s camera and increases the chances that they will be believed and justice will be served.

They were probably bored and needed something to do.
It’s not just traffic officers in many places but just general patrol officers. To give you some example, I was once felony stopped and taken off my bike because ‘You matched the description of someone we’re looking for.’ Suspect vehicle description: Bright red Harley custom with a flame job, with the typical ‘Pirate b-movie extra’ riding it. Me: Black Honda standard bike, all black riding suit, black gloves, black helmet, black boots.

I was once stopped because we fit the description of someone they were looking for. It was me, the driver, and 5 other coeds. We fit the description? LOL So there were six other gals driving around Boston at noontime breaking the law? Sure. ;-)
Plenty of other stuff they could be doing aside from accosting me for perfectly legal conduct - like busting the weed wagon that went by trailing a huge cloud of bong smoke (not legal here), the guy throwing beer bottles out of his truck or the kid tagging the bus stop. All of which I saw in the area - but no, the cops decided to come over and waste my time.
Sheriff is a white Republican.
The narrative creators are going to have a field day.
Either we’re missing some key facts or that officer had no business on the force.
