There is no emergency frequency. 146.52 simplex is kind of the 2M universal hailing frequency. All radios can scan this and it’s useful while traveling on the road. I keep it in all my 2M rigs. It is also used for informal chat or as a contact point. You can then move anywhere your license allows.
Yaesu makes good stuff. So does Icom, like the IC-7300.

2 meters might get you 40 miles in simplex. A repeater might double that.
Each local emergency response group has set frequencies. They are usually on a web site. Do a search of AREA or RACES group in your area.
Our local two meter group is dead. Except for emergency net call-up drills.

Thats right and to add...
For a simple emergency setup GMRS is hard to beat. Low learning curve and relatively inexpensive. Put up a good outside antenna and low loss coax into a mobile radio set up inside the house on a power supply or solar charged battery.
Using mobile antennas on and all your vehicles will greatly improve both transmit and receive range.
Look for handheld radios that have a connector for the antenna connection so you have the option of connecting better antennas.

In addition, it’s its own web of transcommunicating satellites. It can be decoupled from the internet and serve as it’s own web. Pretty disconcerting to those that love censorship.
