DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — A driver in Daytona Beach did not let a rising drawbridge stop them from reaching their destination. Traffic camera video shows the driver speeding through the drawbridge crossing, breaking the arm and then driving over the bridge as it began to rise.

The car briefly caught a bit of air before landing on the other side and driving off.

I rode a Trailways bus across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge exactly one week before a barge hit it, causing several vehicles (including a Trailways bus) to fall into the bay.

So, no, I've never thought about doing something that stupid.

I never have had any real desire to do that, but the other night a guy in front of me drove around the train crossing barriers. I felt envious during the next ten minutes while a two mile long freight train lumbered by doing about 10 mph. They crossing barriers often go up and down near our house when the railroad guys are fiddle farting around or when the daily freight trains are still half a mile away. I can hear the train whistle in the distance and the rumble from the tracks as I write this.

My ex husband always wanted to get off the interstate at a rest stop and re- enter the highway without slowing down. Don’t know if he ever decided to try it.
