DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — A driver in Daytona Beach did not let a rising drawbridge stop them from reaching their destination. Traffic camera video shows the driver speeding through the drawbridge crossing, breaking the arm and then driving over the bridge as it began to rise.
The car briefly caught a bit of air before landing on the other side and driving off.

I came along in a boat several days after this accident and took photos of the damaged bridge. I sent the film in to be developed and NEVER got it back. Nobody knew anything when I asked.

Yup, as stupid as jumping the drawbridge. Can’t explain the rationale.

The problem isn’t jumping a small gap at the top - the problem is hitting the ‘curb’ at the bottom of the second span...

That’s my score to the guy (or is it Daisy doing the jump?) for clearing that baby jump! LOL

I once saw a flatbed semi hauling some large piece of ironwork take an exit on I-80 in Nevada at about 65, blow the stop sign at the crossroad, and reenter the freeway without slowing down. I think he wanted to avoid going under the overpass.

Let's see...smashing my windshield into a gate and risking falling off a bridge and destroying my car just so I can be actively sought by the police. Call me Mr. Boring but it's not something I've ever wanted to try.
To: Red Badger
If one no longer has to obey cops verbal instructions, then there must be no foul in crashing through a silly drawbridge arm.

Funny, “Rubber Biscuit” came up on my music mix this morning. What a great tune. The movie was good; the whole album was good. I was in the Chicago area at that time, stationed at the Hospital Corps School at Great lakes. Fun times.

The problem isn’t jumping a small gap at the top - the problem is hitting the ‘curb’ at the bottom of the second span... The other problem is seeing through the windshield that was smashed by the barrier arm.

I got great air once when I hit an unmarked traffic island one night in a dark parking lot. Doing about 30 just moving my car from one area to another so I didn’t turn on my headlights. Launched about 40 feet completely over the island. I hit the curb so square it didn’t even affect the alignment.
And yes, I’d jump that bridge in a heartbeat

Another tie my wife and I were driving together. We were doing about ten over with a car next to us. The people next to use were deaf and signing to each other. We crossed an intersection and launched. It wasn’t high air but we were off the ground for a good distance.
“My wife said “I’ve never seen deaf people scream before.”

I did that once on an Autobahn in Germany. The rest stop was “paved” with cobblestones so it was pretty hairy!
