It was the first female defense witness, a nurse.

“Which is the question. Did Floyd die that day because of the actions of the cop?”

Actually, the question is, “Would a reasonable person ANTICIPATE the actions of the cops would kill him?”

If not, then the cops didn’t do anything criminal.

Is there reasonable doubt? yes. I don’t agree with murder charges. I still think the cop should have rendered aid sooner

“Because Floyd was restrained even after he stopped talking and moving.”

According to the prosecution witness, continuing restraint after a person loses consciousness is normal and appropriate.

Andrew Branca, bloging for Legal Insurrection on the case, details why the MTD was likely to fail. In addition to the questionable merits of the motion (chiefly because the defense didn’t make the kind of error that is usually required), the defense did not file the MTD in a timely manner which allowed the judge to dismiss the MTD procedurally rather than on its merits.

Why did that happen? Well, the prosecution has absolutely flooded the defense with an INSANE amount of discovery items DURING THE TRIAL. Branca also gets into this and touches on why the number is viewed as high and extraordinary.

Unlike the OJ trial where the defense had more resources than the state, Chauvin’s lawyer is getting run over by the huge team the prosecution has assembled, largely from civilian lawyers.

Branca’s comments can be read here...

Pretty much what we knew. He would have died regardless. It’s just being pinned down for over 9 minutes may have been wrong. But didn’t kill him. 3 times the lethal dose of a drug.

I saw a youtube comment about Chauvin’s lawyer that said, “every time he speaks in court the price of a sheet of plywood goes up” absolutely correct.

If he didn’t die that day, it would have been some other day. Either via gang/dug violence or from drug abuse itself.

“If a criminal dies from a medical condition while being arrested during the commission of a crime, is the cop guilty of murder?”

No. Not at all... Period. Full stop.

Yep. The actual Hennepin County ME was not a good witness for prosecution. I believe the defense made the court aware that it was reserving the right to recall the ME as a defense witness when they present their case.

Also, the ME failed to send the stomach contents out for chemical analysis, which is unusual in both an OD case and a homicide investigation, which this case is both. So, there’s no way to know for certain exactly what Floyd swallowed before he was arrested. Instead, the ME can only testify to what he ‘believes’ she saw.

Murder always was a hard charge to prove.

Manslaughter? Maybe.

That is why they fought so hard to put the murder charge in...bargaining chip for the jury. Let’s they off with a manslaughter vote. POS judge should be visiting a lamp post.

Defense should put on a demo. Find a 160lb cop substitute and have him go against a 220lb thug substitute. Point out this why there are different weight classes in mutual combat sports.

Fauci will chime in to refute this./Sarc

Several prosecution witnesses testified otherwise. It'll all depend on who the jury believes.

Seems probable - providing enough reasonable doubt.
He took a lethal dose, and had health problems likely to fail the way his system did fail.

Yes, but at the end of the day, it’s the Pilate example. To quote My Cousin Vinnie, “There is no way this isn’t going to trial.”
