There appears to be a growing dispute regarding reasons to hesitate taking the CV-19 vaccines. Many from Dr. Michael Yeardon's angle (who does not believe in immune escape) advise to not take the vaccine since there appears to be something sinister in the motives of people promoting it. While on the other side, there are many who pay attention to Dr. Geert Vanden Bossche who believes the vaccine is excellent, but due to inevitable immune escape, they will be ruining their immune system in fighting future Corona Viruses (I think that is an accurate interpretation). Both seem to be qualified doctors to give their opinions and not some clown in their parents basement making monetized fear videos.
I am not a scientist, but like being informed from many doctors' opinions with all sides. Any Freepers have input about these gentlemen? Welcome input from folks pro-vaccine as well.
Hold on for the Novavax version, likely available in May.
IF that were true, it wouldn’t be a secret for very long. It would have come out long before Dr Yeadon’s article.
I think Dr Yeardon may be going through a spiritual conversion. But sometimes making grand claims and prophetic predictions in the midst of one means that in your eagerness to the error of your former ways, you lose sight of nuance and room for how God works in the midst of grey areas and imperfect circumstances. And this pandemic has a lot of grey areas. Not everything is black and white. Vaccines included.
They didn't even take a step back to get further information. They totally believe the science, which after a year is being brought into question.
I think and believe that rather than action due to reason there was shear panic.
In his eagerness to repent of the error of his former ways, he may throw baby out with the bathwater.**
Authorized, not approved. So......................... Being the charitable folks that we are, we’ll let someone else have ours.
“They totally believe the science, which after a year is being brought into question.”
You mean “the science,” right? /s
“Science” is always right. “Scientists?” Not so much.
A dear friend of my wife died yesterday at the age of 60 from blood clots.
She had a history of blood clots, was diabetic, and had lost one leg to blood clots several years ago.
She was in the hospital Thursday to have a clot removed from her stump, and instead they found many more clots than anticipated. She may have had a clot dislodge and migrate to her brain. As I said, she passed away yesterday, 24 hours after her surgery.
She had the J&J vaccine on March 10th. There is no way to know if her clots were caused by her history, by the J&J vaccine, or if the vaccine simply exacerbated an already bad blood clot condition.
I'm not an anti-vaxxer, and I don't say don't get vaccinated, but I do say if you have had a history of blood clots, stay away from the J&J vaccine out of an abundance of caution.
@ 6 Fair comment to consider.
You have to do your own due diligence and judge any risks you conclude seem truthful against any reason that can motivate you to assume the risk. No one can decide for you, and I would not presume to say “you should do ............” and then share in your responsibility for what follows, either way.
Maybe you should ask fellow Freepers just to share what they decided for themselves, and why; not as advice but merely noting what they did.
Fear is bad motivator often. And I do not think that the vaccine is as essential as public officials say. I have never had the flu vaccine and never had a serious flu illness.
That said:
I did let fear motivate me.
It was not fear of the vaccine - I am still not 100% sure of that - but fear of public officials inhibiting my freedom to travel. I weighed for myself that the risk of the vaccine was not that certain but the risk of travel restrictions seemed to be getting more certain by day. Time will tell if my fear was alloed to steer me wrong.
immune escape?
can you define that?
I think that is a perfectly fair and reasonable point. The establishment reaction to the virus is dumbfounding. First, if it was a horrible emergency they would have pulled out all the stops to search for treatments. Instead they did the opposite and intentionally tried to sabotage research into things like HCQ+ and Ivermectin+ and other potential treatments. They tell us "well we don't know because there is no large radom trials" but why in the heck not with all those trillions we threw around couldn't we have done a few?
Then this 15 year old mRNA technology that never worked for anything before and is reported to have sometimes caused horrible side effects in animal tests (on previous vaccines not necessarily this one) is brought out from the basement and "it's a miracle, it works!". All in just 6 or 8 months time?
I am not saying the vaccines are dangerous or bad. They seem to at least for now be reducing risk of serious illness and hospitalization from infection. But this topic of how and why the vaccines became the only option (which is really no option for people laying in hospital beds right now) is worthy of discussion and investigation.
@ 7 Agree. I do not consider this injection a ‘vaccine proper’.
As the liberals’ are fond of reminding us Every chance they get.
My body My choice.
I honestly still can’t figure out why so many people are so eager to take a hastily-formulated experimental vaccine to fight a virus with a 99-percent-plus recovery rate.
Oral coverage will be out very soon.
No - Never! I will be forced to retire because I refuse to have the poison shot into me.
Remember, once it is in, you can never take it out!
Fear is used a psychological tool used by salesmen. “You don’t want tooth decay do you? Better get this deep flouride treatment” or “this car has a 5 star safety rating” or “you don’t want your baby crib to have germs” or “if your friends cringe when you speak you may have halitosis” etc etc. Somewhere between 20%-30% of people make buying decisions based on fear.
Interesting points. Strange(evil?) indeed how they wanted to flatten the curve and then any preventative medicine was banned, doctors fired and deleted while some really large pharmaceutical companies promised a cure, but you still have to wear masks, shut the economy and get boosters forever.
