There is something strange about a vegetable that passes through the body unaffected.
It can’t be good. The body is politely saying “No, thank you.”
That being said, there’s nothing more delicious than a hot ear of corn, roasted with the peels still on, with real butter and salt.

I’m assuming only grain corn was used there for a while. And corn for people wasn’t introduced as part of the regular diet till later. We came here in ‘70 and didn’t eat it till we moved here.

I think you’re the only one here that understands that food is cultural. Ie corn on the cob. It has zero to do with snobbiness. But, your story about food grade - I have a feeling that’s exactly why she didn’t eat it. She had never seen human grade corn before. By the time she came here....she wasn’t interested.

That’s an assumption, albeit a correct one (they were of English descent). Do you feel that Spanish people digest corn differently from other nationalities, or is it just that their opinion of it is different?
I know. Pretty silly especially when most of Europe was starving after WW2. The US had an abundance of corn w could hav giv n them but as I understand it, most Europeans wouldn’t eat it.

No idea. Never been there. Only know what a neighbor from France told me 20 years ago. She was always revolted seeing people eat corn. For all I know corn could be served at every meal in France. Again, don’t know and don’t care.
