And if he had died, he’d be a celebrity Covid 19 death.

If he was clocked speeding so far over the speed limit, why no citations? Is it because he’s a celebrity?

My exact thought as I read it. Must be nice.

He wasn’t “clocked.” There’s probably a legal impediment against charging someone with a motor vehicle offense when there are no witnesses and no cop on the scene.
And there’s no real imperative to charge him when HE was the only victim and any property damage will be covered by his insurance company.

I’m not at all certain that citations can originate from automobile black box recorder data. Think about “real-time” use of such data and by whom, and ponder if that is what we want? Tech sometimes outpaces our grasp of the implications for freedoms and privacy.

Villanueva has defended his agency’s investigation of the crash, saying the golf great did not receive special treatment from law enforcement.
So anyone that receives a ticket for speeding by the Sheriff's dept can use this as their Defense, Being PERSECUTED UNJUSTLY??? ANYONE Else would be Criminally Charged with Felony Reckless Driving due to there being an Injury

Yep. They probably base it on how far it travelled after leaving the road.

Tiger Woods is a champion golfer. He can’t be expected to be an expert mathematician as well. Maybe he didn’t know that 83 was more than 45.

FWIW, I had the opportunity to drive that SUV model for some period of time. It’s a surprisingly luxurious SUV, super high interior finishes. But, it’s not a sports SUV like Porsche & BMW are known to make. It has a very compliant, supple suspension designed for maximum comfort not sharp handling. The steering is a bit vague as it is in some luxury models.
But, even in an X5 M or Cayenne, 83 is a big ask on that twisty stretch of road, IMO.
In any event, considering there were no indications he took any evasive action, I’m not sure it mattered. He simply drove off the road like due to inattention.
