If you're someone who appreciates the phrase "I put ketchup on my ketchup," you'll be interested — and perhaps slightly horrified — to hear about the latest supply chain shortage to hit the country.
As first reported by The Wall Street Journal, ketchup packets are apparently in short supply right now, and restaurants and fast-food chains are struggling to keep up with the demand.

Solution is to not bring it to the table unless requested.
Who eats at restaurants any more anyway? That is sooooo pre-apocalypse.
My Mom used to make homemade ketchup when I was a kid. It was horrid.
No kidding.
With the lockdowns and all, restaurants are going out of business and we’re expected to believe there’s a ketchup shortage?
Betcha there’s none to be had in the grocery stores either right now.
keep the ketchup right next to your toilet paper and ammo pile!
About 25-30 years ago, ketchup was dethroned as the number one condiment. It was replaced by salsa.
I have heard ketchup is loaded with high fructose corn syrup aka sugar and one reasons kids plaster it on everything may be they are hooked on sugar, hence fat and diabetic
I wouldn’t be surprised. Like many things, its probably very uneconomical to run a ketchup factory at half-speed for very long. So if you think governments will keep restaurants shut down for many months, you shut down your factory entirely. That supply then goes to zero.

Yup. All that sugar is why you don’t even have to refrigerate an open bottle of ketchup. kind of weird. If bacteria won’t grow in it, how nourishing can it be?
Solution is to use the restaurant squeeze bottles like the old days. Duh....
I always LOVE when Euros ridicule Americans about ketchup like using it is so low brow. Then watching them use it on everything and I use it on fries and burgers solely.
We have a small bottle in the fridge for company.
It should be a lifetime supply.
That, and the main ketchup factories may be located in areas that are still not allowed to operate.
I don’t like ketchup...or BBQ sauce. One less thing for me to stockpile. lol
It is very easy to make at home. Simple ingredients.
Maybe ketchup manufacturers are having a tough time getting corn syrup, and other supplies, from ChiComs.
Yeah....hard to believe there’s a shortage when most restaurants are closed...or, have gone out of business.
Ditto. Just mustard and mayo, for us.
I must be sitting on a gold mine with the ketchup packets I have tucked away in my vehicle’s cubbyhole in front of the gearshift. I generally steer away from ketchup due to the sugar content and I buy the no-added-sugar formulation for the granddaughters to use when visiting.
Price hike ploy?.
