United Airlines, the only major U.S. airline to own a flight school, will begin accepting applications today as it embarks on an ambitious plan to train 5,000 new pilots by 2030, at least half of them women and people of color. Backed by scholarship commitments from United Airlines and JPMorgan Chase, United Aviate Academy will create opportunities for thousands of students, including women and people of color to pursue a career as a commercial airline pilot, one of the most lucrative careers in the industry.

Never liked United, but I suspect the other carriers will follow suit. We can’t have racist airlines can we?
Safety?
Over-rated.
I will never hop on a plane again.
Flying connecting flights in the US for overseas travel, I have seen a few three stripers that looks like they just graduated from High School.
Experts explained that the white paint was the result of deep systemic racism and needed to be eradicated.

Yesterday, I just realized my systemic racism in preferring “white corn” tortillas as opposed to “yellow corn” tortillas.
Maybe this is anti-asian?
If your pilot is wearing a burka exit the plane and buy a life insurance policy on the rest of the passengers.
“Will never fly united”
Skin color and genitalia triumphs over competence. Anyone would be stupid to fly United, starting today.
I guess we’ve moved on from the ‘content of their character’ thing....
United is clearly focused on a political agenda, public safety be damned. Every one of their pilots still needs to be certified by an FAA pilot. That’s where the real test is.
We had a “diversity” college interviews at SMU in Dallas and about half of the people I interviewed were African’s.
Not African Americans, Africans.
Rich Africans, from Africa, going to a school my white son can’t afford.
Diversity quotas in a world that is about 20% white are a joke on Americans for falling for it.
Real test?
Snort.
Not with Deep State running the FAA.
Hindenburg’d air travel. The b team doesn’t cut it here.
I’ve ALWAYS flown on foreign-flagged airlines in the past, if for no other reason because it’s possible for me to pass a stewardess going the other direction in an aisle, without one of us having to turn around and get to a ‘wider’ area.
This just gives me more reasons.
“...United Aviate Academy will create opportunities for thousands of students..”
No experience needed. There was a time not to long ago the airlines would hire no one but experienced ex military pilots.
There couldn’t be a downside.
And when too many fail to pass they will simply lower the standards until they do.
Do if 90% of applicaticants are white males they will systematically discriminate against them?
United is saying that they are no longer going to hire based on qualifications of candidates but instead are going to hire based upon gender identity and ethnic heritage?
Why is it the NBA can operate as a pure meritocracy but an airline cannot?
Coincidentally the FAA will begin accepting applications today as it embarks on an ambitious plan to train 5,000 new crash investigators by 2030.
I used to work the ramp for Delta for the flight benefits. What I saw scared me, I don’t fly as much anymore.
Is this what you call a crash course?
