In the space of one year, Americans have willingly jettisoned liberty.
I’m not getting the COVID vaccine. I’m not recommending that course of action and, although I do have my reasons, it’s mostly just stubbornness. I don’t want to follow the herd and I won’t be told what I must do for my own well-being. Not in this country. I’m still an American, even if we are becoming an endangered species. It amazes me to watch my countrymen going about their business every day having completely forgotten who they are as Americans. We must somehow relearn our heritage of liberty.
It’s laughable to see otherwise normal people walking around outside with masks on. Regardless of what anyone on TV or elsewhere has told them, it’s extremely unlikely that you’ll catch the virus while walking your dog.
I see more people alone in their cars all masked up. In the past, this made me chuckle, but it’s become so common that the foolishness of it gets under my skin. Does your car have COVID? Are you going to infect yourself? Where has common sense gone?
Some people I talk with are still masking despite having received the vaccine. If the vaccine is so useless then why take it at all? They’re quick to say that their mask is for my protection, but I don’t want or need them to protect me. And if the vaccine works, then how is it that you are protecting me? This is America. I can make my own decisions about my welfare. We are adults in a free country. We can make our own choices about living our lives. We can and should be responsible for ourselves. If we’re not careful, that responsibility will be taken away from us.

Since my wife and I got both doses of Trump’s Warp Speed Moderna vaccine I guess you’d consider me a vaxxer. This vaxxer doesn’t walk around outside or in his car with a mask on. This vaxxer believes though should be free to get or not get the vaccine. I think you’ll find almost all Free Republic “vaxxers” exactly like me regarding masks and vaccines.
I see idiots all the time driving alone in cars with masks on. I see walkers in the neighborhood alone with masks on. Pathetic.
I consider a vaxxer to be someone who thinks the vaccine should be mandatory, with passports and legal consequences if you don’t see the enlightenment.
For the most part, I agree with you.
But how is informed consent with regard to vaccination possible after we’ve been lied to by so many about so much?
This isn’t an “us vs them” thing. At least to those of us who are still sane. I got a vaccination. Does that make me a Vaxxer? I don’t think so. And if you choose not to get one, you get no judgement from me. It’s your choice.
Oh, and I’m not a masker. I wear one to go into a store if they require it, but otherwise, no. My wife and I have been regularly going to restaurants and sitting happily in booths and at bars unmasked since this mess started.

I guess do independent research as I and many others have done. Early on I think we could tell that COVID-19 had severe effects primarily on the elderly and those with comorbidities. We also saw (or should have seen) from the dearth of COVID-19 disease among the homeless that sporadic exposure only to small amounts of virus at a time usually allowed natural immunity to build up without disease. We never should have closed elementary and middle schools and probably not higher level schools either.
I’m a firm believer in herd immunity. And that can be achieved through a combination of both naturally acquired immunity as well as immunity from vaccination.
There is no liberty without Jesus Christ the King.
Sure didn’t take long, did it?
Take long for what???
I don’t see where MtnClimber got “flamed”...
People just stating what their choices are...
“In the space of one year, Americans have willingly jettisoned liberty.”
They can say as they wish about the vaccine, but the loss of liberty started WAY BEFORE the vaccine and was quite advanced by the time the virus hit.
If you want to trace it’s beginnings, one can go back to the early 1900s, although the real speed-up was the 1950s, when we stopped prosecuting Communists and instead allowed that virus to spread, unchecked, through our entire educational system, with no exceptions (other than the ‘free’ public school that my kids go to).
That is my big problem...all of the lies. The lies have kept up because politicians like the power of the lockdown. With the vaccine, why do the left insist so much that people MUST take it. They don’t seem honest when they are saying that so I don’t trust them.
You shouldn't be frequenting stores that "require" masks. Tell them "No" and go about shopping there. If they press the issue ask them if they want your money, or not. If their business is doing so well that you wearing a mask is more important than you giving them your money, then leave. Go someplace that does want your money.
Here is something I don’t understand. I doesn’t make any sense to me that there are Conservatives/Patriots who are normally extremely wary about the government. They look skeptically at its ability to even do the basics of running the country from day to day. Yet, they listen to the government as it touts and pushes these “vaccines”. A government who’s spokesmen have admittedly lied at various times about the Coof in order to manipulate public behavior. They are flocking in droves and eagerly rolling up their sleeves so Big Pharma can inject them with basically untested “vaccines” that were rushed through production and given waivers in order to get them on the market.
Hell no! You are correct
the vaccine industry is pure evil
For creeping socialism and communism to merge and become very public, instead of being closeted, as they’ve been for the past decades.
It's as simple as that. Unfortunately, we live in a world of gutless ignoramuses.
That's all well and good if you happen to live someplace that has any businesses that don't require a mask. Unfortunately, many of us live where masks are absolutely always required, in every single business/store there is. Don't wear a mask? Then you're not going to be able to shop, unless you can get it online.
