One of my kids found this in his room today and took the picture. He & mom let it go outside. Apparently the leg-span is about the size of a nickel.
I don't recall seeing anything like this before in our area (Minneapolis subs).
Anyone have a clue as to what species this is?
.....and that ain’t what it takes to love me....
The good ones I leave alone. Like wolf and jumping spiders. The bad ones I kill.
Brown recluse spiders have a dark violin shape on their thorax. Look at your image, from the head back.
Have you ever found a cave cricket in your bathtub?
They’re harmless but very gruesome looking - and make a lot of ‘squish’ when you....squish them.
“After the hatching the young spiders remain dependent on their mothers until they attain maturity that comes after 1 to 1.5 years.”
Never, ever did I think a spider would be dependent on mom. Interesting!
Is the venom pod the gray oval in the rear?
Agree. Fiddle back. Recluse. Bite is a necrotizer. If bit do not wait. Longer you wait the more muscle it consumes.
When I was a teenager living at my Fathers house a Cricket managed to get in and hide under the fridge. I had to pull the fridge away from the wall and evict the Cricket. It was driving me nuts.
Where do you live?!
Yeah I was surprised too, and for so long a period as well.
Damn ugly, I’d say.
One of the best movie scenes ever. Ya gotta be sure!!!
The Summer before lockdown, there was a cricket trapped somewhere in the elevator shaft in my workplace. I felt sorry for it, but loved hearing it.
Put some ASAP silver biotics gel on it. . . . I have had good results. Others have put the gel on scars after surgery and it certainly minimized it and often disappears. One doctor asked a friend what he put on his suture because it was almost healed on a return visit.
Thx. I’ll look into it.
You win! Female, non-aggressive, ground hunter as per http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YECsNH-e6c The host lets the spider nap on his arm.
What are ‘silver biotics’?
Is that anything like Thermazene?
