One of my kids found this in his room today and took the picture. He & mom let it go outside. Apparently the leg-span is about the size of a nickel.
I don't recall seeing anything like this before in our area (Minneapolis subs).
Anyone have a clue as to what species this is?
Guess you have never been bitten by a Brown Recluse, I have, no fun. I don’t know what that one is but I say squash it anyway.
Hate spiders.
It would look better about .01” thick.
I don’t mind spiders or snake.(Grew up playing in the woods and cornfields)
A centipede is another story!!! UGH!!
I know a guy that got bit by a brown recluse. He had a hole in his leg you could put a golf ball in.
looks like a brown recluse. very bad bite.
If it bites you, you will die - in a few decades. It’s like a bee sting.
But it’s not really venomous, from a human perspective. The bite hurts for the same reason a dog bite hurts.
All spiders are venomous, but most spiders aren’t medically dangerous to humans.
A Woodlouse spider lays approximately on average 70 eggs, laid in an egg cocoon that is made from a few silk strands.
I used to hate jumping spiders. Then I found out they are the only natural enemy of the Brown Recluse. I leave those suckers alone now.
Baby spiders “balloon” away on the wind after hatching. They’ll be there one day and miles away the next.
was it Otto the Orkin man who used to say, “The only good bug s a dead bug,”?
Boris the spider
It is bad luck to kill a spider.
Depends on where the spider is living, indoors or outdooraa.
Luckily mine is not that bad!!
Seeing an area of rotting tissue on your leg is bit unnerving.
Where is the venom pod?
Spiderlings
After the hatching the young spiders remain dependent on their mothers until they attain maturity that comes after 1 to 1.5 years.
Yep. Called necrosis. Not everyone reacts the same to their bite. And, yes, they do have an irregular web...like the black widow.
If it was in your kitchen...they were probably looking for a water source.
They are hard to kill. If you smack them..they “play dead”.
Best thing to use is a powder pesticide and glue traps.
