FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - A Fayetteville man said his last paycheck from his former employer came in the form of over 90,000 oil- or grease-covered pennies dumped on his driveway.

Andreas Flaten said he left his job at A OK Walker Autoworks in November 2020. He said he was supposed to get his final paycheck, but was having difficulty getting it.

When I used to metal detect a lot every so often I would dump the filthy coins in a vibratory tumbler with corncob media to clean them. I would think instead of corn cob media a guy could fill the hopper up with water and dish washing detergent. Older pennies made of bronze are worth more scrap than face value.

Thanks for the info. If I ever knew that, I’d forgotten. And zinc is only worth 1/4 of copper: $4 vs $1 or thereabouts.

Given the employee's concern for the environment he sounds like a lefty.

Actually he sounds like a property owner.

Oil will seep into the ground and poison your fruit and vegetables grown in that soil.

If it gets into the creek you are responsible for cleaning it up.

Article didn’t say why the employer did it. This is why I question why my heart is siding with the employer. I think there is more to this story.

Sorry Employer lost any sympathy from me when they act in a stupid manor like this

So what was the employer's response when you asked him why he did it?

Since it's not mentioned in the article, I naturally assume you know the other side of the story...........

Can't wait to hear it.....

Dawn dishwashing liquid would clean the pennies really well and quick...shouldn’t hurt the enviroment too much!

Over 1800 rolls of pennies? I'd be hard pressed to even try to find that many.............

Sure would like to hear the employer's side of the story.,......

Was the guy fired and if so, why? So many questions without any answers........

Dawn dishwashing liquid...will make them clean as a whistle...works on motor oil as well as chicken and bacon grease. GoJo would work as well!

Andreas Flaten

Pissed off employee or a shyster contractor............you be the judge.

Apparently Andreas has his own company, Norse Freight Forwarding.......

I don’t believe pennies are legal tender.

The older, copper ones probably are.

The business is getting hammered on Yelp.

Of course they are and that's all due to the apparently misleading article on this guy that never attempted to get the business owner's side...........But that's what they do.

See the link I posted above......

He could file a complaint with the EPA who would quickly jump all over the boss.

He still needs to split out the 1982 and prior to get the copper. But, your right the pennies are better than the check.

Any real mechanic would go buy solvent at the hardware store and clean them all at once.

Flaten said his new routine is now to sit in his garage at night and clean off the pennies with a solution of dish soap, vinegar, and water.

The Sierra Club will hire him to clean sea birds at the next oil spill.

He could file a complaint with the EPA who would quickly jump all over the boss.

He's worried about the hazardous stuff dumped in his driveway by A OK Walker Autoworks running-off into the creek.

"He has fruit trees in his backyard and a freshwater creek just about 100 feet away. He said he was concerned the oil would slide down his driveway and make its way into the water."

If he files with the Georgia EPA it can result in costing A OK Walker Autoworks a helluva lot more than $915--and cost the manager of that shop his job.

The matter is in Andreas Flaten's oil-stained hands now.

I admit it is the last line in the article but....

FOX 5 did speak with the owner of the business over the phone. He said he paid Flaten in U.S. currency and did not want to be a part of the story.

Care to retract?

Care to retract?

Nope! Not until I hear his side of the story........What's wrong with that?

Would certainly like to hear what connection Andreas Flaten and his company had to do with this employer, wouldn't you?

You said they did not attempt to get the owners side.

They did.

What were they suppose to do?

Dangle him over a pot of boiling lead until he gave his side?

Would certainly like to hear what connection Andreas Flaten and his company had to do with this employer, wouldn't you?

No.

You are assuming he was something other then an employee.

You have nothing to support it but your own speculation.
