Soaking the pennies in oil is a nice touch.

That would gum up a change counter.

I want more details about this. Why do I find myself siding with the employer?

I don’t believe pennies are legal tender.

The owner said he doesnt want to be “part of the story”?

He IS the story.

Sounds like the employer still owes him a pay check and an environmental clean up for their illegal dumping

If the employer had paid him like a professional and a grown-up there wouldn’t be a story.

Flaten said his new routine is now to sit in his garage at night and clean off the pennies with a solution of dish soap, vinegar, and water.

Not the response I was expecting.

Probably would be considered harassment and trespass. The note tells the story.

If I were a judge, Id tell the employer to double what was owed, deliver a certified check to the employee via the court.

However, cleaning the pennies and spending even one might be viewed as acceptance.

Of course there's more to the story.

I have seen people try stunts like this on banks and government offices only to have it backfire when they made them stay and count every penny.

FOX 5 did speak with the owner of the business over the phone. He said he paid Flaten in U.S. currency and did not want to be a part of the story.

Remember that's A OK Walker Autoworks in Peachtree City, Georgia.

Lawyer up and check the dates on those pennies. Sometimes they are worth more than a penny’s worth.

Yeah, him sitting there cleaning off each penny with a rag before tossing them into a bucket was a nice touch for the camera. Probably the station’s producer telling him to do that for the camera.
