The disturbing series of events during the summer of 2019 resulted in an investigation that made its way to the highest echelons of the Navy.
In July of 2019, a truly bizarre series of events unfolded around California’s Channel Islands. Over a number of days, groups of unidentified aircraft, which the U.S. Navy simply refers to as ‘drones’ or 'UAVs,' pursued that service's vessels, prompting a high-level investigation.

I would agree, test our systems out against these
Then find out who sent them and test our systems out on them in person. Dont care who it is.
“When the Captain was asked “Sir, should we shoot one down?” He responded, “are you crazy? What if they are being flown by persons of color or perhaps LBGTQ people. We can’t take such a chance.”
“A serious investigation will get to the bottom of this and there will be hell to pay.” “
well done!
And to think I used to have to drink a cocktail to get this silly.;-)
Nobody respects or fears Biden. Not the Chinese or the North Koreans...and now even the aliens are thumbing their slits (where their noses would be if they had them) at us.
Ours or theirs?
This was under Trump.
I don’t think the Phalanx system has programming to consider collateral damage. Use it around a seaport, and who knows what happens.
I can actually picture that happening
but seriously, if the ships didn’t fire, then command knew what was going on but the sailors had no need to know, yet.
Next month they’ll know: USS Michael Monsoor -

Lots of questions and no answers re:
* Don’t many US destroyers/ships have small observation/SAR helicopters on them? If so, they could have been launched to get a close-up view of the Drones.
* Why didn’t the ships destroy one or two as a warning to those who controlled the drones to “Get out of Dodge, ASAP”?
* Did the ships try to contact the drones to see if they were capable of receiving and transmitting warning messages to stay away?
* Where and when did the drones disappear - i.e. time, direction, radar visibility, etc.?
Our Navy has been led by Obama’s “Queens Navy” commanders for too long, rending decent leaders impotent in a situation like this. It’s going to get worst under Biden and is, already.
Aren’t these ships equipped with MK 15 Phalanx Close-In Weapons Systems.

Ammo shortage?
I can’t find any.
Why did the Navy assume/conclude these *unidentified* aircraft were drones/UAVs?
Why did the pilots/operators of these aircraft have bright lights marking their position and movements?
They weren't the illegal aliens Biden invited, now they feel snubbed.
There is such as ECCM too.
There wouldn’t necessarily be much to see on a video. Just a guess, but I’ve seen radar exercises put on ny USN aircraft dispersing small drones like chaff. The drones can be cued by the RIO to swarm fixed targets. It would seem logical that the next move might be to swarm a naval ship underway.
Launched from a CCP submarine no doubt.

The CCP is a political party; the PLAN operates naval forces, including subs. The CCP only nominally controls the PLA, PLAN, PLAAF.
Might be the same swarms that gathered near a reactor and another military base - far inland.
More likely a USAF project than something the PLAN might have - we are far ahead of the Chinese in drone tech.
some of the best electronic counter measures (ECM)

Next to the Russians.
Some think this is a test of some USAF project as there has been a push to create autonomous AI drone swarms. This is the third time swarms have shown up with no obvious operator.
There are articles on The War Zone about the swarms, so if you read the story, there are pictorial links to the other stories after the end of the article
