Senate Dems introduce ‘assault weapons’ ban bill on 205 gun models

Senate Democrats introduced legislation that would ban 205 “assault weapons” Thursday, just hours after the House passed two other gun control bills.

Introduced by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), the legislation called the “Assault Weapons Ban of 2021” would also outlaw magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds and is co-sponsored by 34 other Senate Democrats.

According to a press release from Feinstein, the bill “bans any assault weapon with the capacity to utilize a magazine that is not a fixed ammunition magazine and has one or more military characteristics including a pistol grip, a forward grip, a barrel shroud, a threaded barrel or a folding or telescoping stock.”

Some of the firearms listed in the proposed ban are “All AR types,” “All UZI types,” Beretta CX4, Sig Sauer P556 pistol, as well as belt-fed semi-autos.

Current owners of the “assault weapons” listed in the legislation would be allowed to keep them, but any private transfers would require an FBI background check prior to receiving the firearm.

Additionally, the bill prohibits bump stocks, which have already been illegal since March 26, 2019.

“It’s been 17 years since the original Assault Weapons Ban expired, and the plague of gun violence continues to grow in this country. To be clear, this bill saves lives,” Feinstein said in her announcement of the bill. “When it was in place from 1994-2004, gun massacres declined by 37 percent compared with the decade before. After the ban expired, the number of massacres rose by 183 percent.”

“Here we go again; the Ugly Gun Bill...”

You are so right. The ATF already regulates the standards for issuing licenses to gun vendors. Shotguns, rifles, machine guns, firearm mufflers and silencers are regulated by the National Firearms Act of 1934. The purchase of semi-automatic weapons is legal in most states, as are automatic weapons made before 1986. So no one can legally get an updated semi or automatic weapon...except the criminals.

The act of taking weapons out of service to people that don’t break the law with them is so stupid it reeks of Biden brains. The government’s efforts to making it illegal to procure a weapon by legal means has had a history of failure as it didn’t get the weapons out of the hands of those on the street corners. And in most of the encounters law enforcement has to handle they were outgunned many times in the past.

Do the libs think taking the guns out of the hands of citizens is going to stop the violence? Not when they are the criminals or are supporting them. And they are with this bill as they are making every effort to turn every one into sheep by removing the dog and tender.

I think it was Jack Webb on a Dragnet show that said when asked that you guys are real quick to jump after a criminal when he kills a cop. Answer: “What makes you think if he kills an armed cop, he would have any problem killing an unarmed citizen.” And the libs are pulling the last line of defense out of service.

I didn’t own any firearms during the first AWB or previous ammo shortages so this is all new to me. That being said over the last several years I was buying up extra ammo so I do have some, but not enough in some calibers. I also have a few of those evil black firearms including a .22 that would probably fall in that category.

Over the last year I have been buying up extra standard capacity magazines for my AR’s just in case. I’m hoping that I never have to take them out of the packaging though. They might also become valuable if they are banned.

Does anyone have any idea what they mean by AR types? That could include an old 39A that holds 19 rounds of 22LR in a tube mag

Well, the NRA and pro gun groups have never done anything to prevent this. If they cared, they’d be running infomercials on tv educating the masses. Even FReepers don’t know the difference between a bullet and a cartridge.

HA! Good luck banning the most popular sporting rifle in the country. Frankly at this point I say bring it. If the military doesn’t stop dithering around and step in to reinstate Trump we will all have to do it. If not now when?

Another side effect of having politicians who are in their 80’s.....they'll never have to live with the consequences of their actions.

No, the Libs don’t think that at all. They’re quite aware it won’t stop violence. The objective of taking guns out of the hands of citizens is about taking power out of the hands of citizens, aka, We The People.

Amendment 28: The act of filing, introduction, or otherwise placing a bill for consideration before any legislative body that advocates for any sort of gun control, arms control, or other such infringement upon the right to bear arms, is hereby defined as a treasonous act of war against the states and people of the United States.

Agreed.

No one has the stomach to stand up for their freedoms anymore. If push comes to shove, we’re looking at a few hundred thousand to a couple million, AT BEST, that would get up, get organized, and apply boot to ass.

This mask hysteria really opened my eyes to how much like frightened sheep our society has become. Basically none of these cowardly weaklings will have the sack to resist.

Like you, I believe almost every one will bend over and take it.

Our society has become good at that.

I am in agreement with you. I have very little faith in the American people. And I think my attitude is Justified. I have a good friend who thinks I’m just negative but I explained to her that realistically assessing the situation is not being negative.

Bump stocks are way too expensive. A nice rubber band they use for broccoli was perfect. But with ammo shortages who has the left over to spray like that?

Like an AWB could have ANY effect on the number of "gun massacres" committed with handguns.

The number of people killed annually with rifles of ALL types is still well below the number killed with blunt objects.

Suppose they do get a ban on semi-auto rifles! Those who have bolt action hunting rifles will be A-OK.

Till another Charles Whitman(Remember him?), using a bolt action Remington 6MM rifle kills lots of people. Then there will be calls to ban those “evil” things.

I was going to stop at one of my favorite Gun Shops today, but the parking lot was filled and people were in line...forever.

Since I was just going to browse, I kept on driving, and went to the casino instead.
