Day 365 of 15 Days to “Flatten the Curve” – The Big Anniversary Edition: Pop Some Corn in Addition to Corks
Vanity | March 11, 2021 | Me

Posted on 03/11/2021 4:46:16 AM PST by CheshireTheCat

Today marks a full year, according to Premier Biden, since the institution of the infamous “Flatten the Curve,” AKA The Deep State’s Plot to Drive Us Crazy, Make Us Stupid, and Take Over the World (in order to make the world safe for China to take it over).

15 days, they told us, for 15 days/roughly two weeks we need to work from home, close non-essential business, cancel concerts, baby showers, cat shows, etc., yada, yada, you know “the thing” (to show my solidarity with a certain awe-inspiring president) in order to give hospitals a chance to gear up for huge, terrible, overwhelming waves of ‘rona patients.

15 days.

Instead, 15 days has now become ONE FULL YEAR! I repeat, ONE FULL YEAR! Or 24.3 sets of 15 days.

I had been punctuating the day marker from the first day I began working from home, Friday, March 13th, in absence of any “official” date. But now that Uncle Joe has determined March 11th was the official start date of Operation Curve Flattening, I will comply and go along with that in the interest of getting everyone on the same page on this.

Besides, if I am going to go to a gulag, going against the State on the start date of Operation Curve Flattening is not a good reason to go to a gulag over. There are better hills to die on.

I am actually glad that Biden is going with today as the anniversary date, as I am going to be busy tomorrow and Saturday.

I have a feeling this is the only thing Biden ever does for which I will be glad.

I don’t have any grand pronouncements. They will all be overshadowed by whatever Biden has to say tonight, anyway. I can’t possibly compete with him.

I am curious as to how Biden is, or if he is, going to explain the differences between where things stand now in various states. On the one end of the continuum, we have California now telling people to double mask. On the other end, South Dakota’s restrictions were minimal in the first place. A blue state like Conn. has opened up more than other blue states. Some red states got rid of mask mandates. Some promise to in April.

In Ohio, where we supposedly have an R governor, on paper at least, we may get to burn masks when cases drop below 50 per 100k for two weeks. So I guess Biden can’t call us Neanderthals. Maybe we are just Cro Mags.

I’d like to be a Neanderthal, though. Devolution is cool. It seems everyone is doing it.

Anyway, all these variances across the states seem to be a perfect set up for incoherency from Biden should he try to address them, not that he needs a set up for incoherency.

(I can’t wait to read Kurt Schlichter’s or Stephen Green’s takes on the speech tonight.)

March 11th is National Popcorn Lover’s Day. Actually, it just so conveniently works out this year that March 11 is this day, for National Popcorn Lover’s Day falls not on March 11 but the 2nd Thursday in March.

However, every March 11th is National Debunking Day, National Mortician Recognition Day, and National Worship of Tools Day.

I eagerly await your jokes

It’s interesting to me how this has impacted my own mental health. Initially it didn’t bother me. I’m hearing all of these pronouncements of sorrow over a lack of social interaction, offices closed down, entertainment venues shuttered, but I didn’t find those to impact me so much.

What really bugs me is going out into the world and being reminded of the fear and inanity of it all. Even though we live in a rural part of Florida, people are still wearing masks in hardware stores, grocery stores, even while out walking, and for what? Fear? A lack of basic scientific reasoning? I want so badly to go up to one of them and ask their reason, but I don’t know that’ll make me feel any better.

I’m not upset about the social isolation. I’m part of a generation that finds at least some social solace through online interaction, but the fact that every time I go out to the store or even just for a drive, I’m seeing people still believing these masks are saving them from something, and that’s what makes me sad. There will never be a return to normalcy. I’ve become a pariah because I refuse to wear a mask. How quaint.

They told us it was to flatten the curve. I looked at the chart and saw that the area of the two curves was the same, so the number of hospitalizations was going to be the same, but one was represented by a “flatter” curve. Same number of people, spread out over time.

They instilled fear with the stories of two million dead, and so we became compliant sheep, cowering in fear, hoping that our masters would keep us safe. Now they could have their way with us. The blame was heaped on Trump, as I knew it would, plus they ginned up the race riots and marxist takeovers of inner cities, giving them moral and material support. 2020 was turned into total chaos, with people thrown out of work. The government then generated money and sent checks, solidifying the total dependence on government.

As marxists always do, they precipitate a breakdown of the civil order, and then go for a revolution. Fires, destruction, deaths, rapes in the streets—a complete breakdown of civilization, and all planned so as to unfailingly lead to a replacement of the government and the setting up of a marxist order.

You realize that if a unmasked person approaches a masked person and gets anywhere an inch less of 6 feet from them, the masked person will accuse them of assault, don’t you?

I would recommend against it.

Instead, bring an unmasked companion with you and talk to him or her about how neurotic the masked people are as you shop.

Same here.

Can’t deal with the surrealism of living in some madman’s fever dream.

The suppressed rage from the endless gaslighting is turning into despair.

My wife and I refuse to wear masks and don’t patronize stores that require it. We’ve turned right around and left Target when told we weren’t welcome without a mask. I’ve been confronted by an old man in a scooter and an older woman in Lowes for not wearing a mask. I just smile and turn around. Never once has it gone past that. I don’t engage, but I’m sad for our society.

The suppressed rage from the endless gaslighting is turning into despair.

That's a great way to put it. I can't watch the news when I'm at the gym or waiting for my wife at the salon. It's just so damn depressing. Over half of the 40+ minutes of "news" in a 1 hour program are outright lies; I mean demonstrably untrue "facts," but these "journalists" are on the air day in, day out. What kind of country have we become?

I can’t imagine they are just in it for the money.
The democrats are so honest and trust worthy.
The would never exploit the population for their own gain.

Yes, this is exactly how I feel. I am glad I am in good company.

The suppressed rage from the endless gaslighting is turning into despair.

That about sums it up.

In my opinion, they WANT us to unleash that rage because it gives them the excuse they need to perform (or at least try) mass murder in the manner that all leftist heroes before them did it - Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot - they're all the same. History repeats itself if you don't learn from it.

At present it is socially unacceptable to not wear a mask in public.

In some areas you will be flogged for not following the custom. In other areas you might get a stern look or just be ignored.

In my area, wearing a mask is following the custom even though those most likely to become ill and die are vaccinated. It is seemingly acceptable to wear a mask but leave your nose uncovered. Many do. Eating places are open. Schools are open. Tradesmen come and go. but........ masks are worn mostly.

Be thankful you live in Florida, America rather than in California and non America.

Medical offices strictly adhere to the mask rule. If they don’t predatory lawyers will kill them.

I can’t even talk in Internet forums (FR excepted) about not wearing a mask here in FL without being called a killer. I mean I’ve literally been called a death dealer. People have digitally spit on me for refusing to wear a mask. I just don’t get it.

Despite their attempts to deceive the sheep into thinking some vague “attack” is ever imminent, they know bloody well we never “fight back”.

I live in a mask state. Masks are required to get into businesses or they can be fined, so I comply. I probably have a mask on for a total of 30 or so minutes a week. The mask goes on a few feet from the door and comes off as I am exiting if no one is close by. Every once in awhile I'll get a dirty look from a parking lot Karen, but I've never been yelled at.

The are a few places I go that ignore the mask mandate, so I don't wear a mask. It is rather refreshing for a few minutes of normalcy.
