The little video clip at the link is higher quality than the two gifs below. The post asks the viewer to imagine what it was like to face a mounted Mongolian archer 800 years ago. I believe the sound track to this clip is traditional Mongolian music. The combination was quite effective in my opinion.
It would have been a quick ending for me. Those Mongolians were OUTSTANDING at killing people in full stride.
seems kindof dangerous for the horses ..
Look up The Hu on You tube for some awesome Mongolian music! You will want to burn down a village and plunder its inhabitants afterwards!
Tammerlane stacked the heads of the people he beheaded 30 feet high out side the walls of Baghdad. They were not really very tolerant guys, those Mongols
Thanks for that recommendation.
Is Mongolia independent of China?
Looks like he’s shooting from the wrong side of the bow. Asian archers traditionally shoot from the right side of the bow, using a thumb hold for the arrow. (Westerners shoot from the left-hand side, using a two-finger or three-finder draw.)
There’s videos of Mongols hunting wolves with golden eagles. I wonder if they ever used eagles to knock people off their horses. Maybe the eagles would have been too valuable to risk.

I independently made the connection in an Australian farmhouse, while discussing the tension between pastoral and agricultural people.
When I started to research the subject, it became apparent the link had already been confirmed by other academics.
What is best in life?
The open steppe, fleet horse, falcons at your wrist, and the wind in your hair.

Here is some more information on the Mongol culture-

This is the most badassed thing ever.
The archer seems as still in the saddle as if braced against a rock on solid ground.
Cute.
Lesson learned.😉
